💙 A New Chapter for Kidzplay Leeds 💙

Dear Kidzplay Family,

After many wonderful years together, the time has come for me to hand over the reins of Kidzplay Leeds. This isn’t a goodbye to Kidzplay — it’s simply the start of a new chapter, and one I’m excited for you to be part of.

When I first opened the doors, my dream was to create a space filled with laughter, play, and a sense of community. Thanks to you — the families who visited, celebrated birthdays, and supported us — that dream became a reality beyond anything I could have imagined.

Now, Kidzplay Leeds is being taken over. I feel a massive sense of peace and pride knowing it will be cared for by people who share the same love for children, play, and family moments. I’m confident they’ll continue to make Kidzplay Leeds a place where your little ones can grow, explore, and thrive.

✨ Important Update:
Party bookings at Kidzplay Leeds are unaffected and will continue as planned.
However, Kidzplay Passes and Memberships are no longer valid at Leeds — they will continue to be valid at Kidzplay Harrogate as usual.

From the bottom of my heart, thank you for being part of this incredible journey with me. I’m so grateful for every smile, every memory, and every moment of trust you’ve shared along the way.

Next up… our Leanne.

What can I say?
She’s been a proper grafter from day one.
Always up for anything — dressing up, getting stuck in, covering shifts, sorting chaos, wiping tears (sometimes mine), and still managing to smile through it all.

Leanne just got it.
No drama. No fuss. Just quietly brilliant.
She was the one who made things better just by being around.

I mean… look at her — laser tag face-off, Pudsey onesie, bunny ears, kitchen queen, and still managing to point out a rogue grape like it was a crime scene.

Solid. Kind. Hilarious.

Our Leanne

Every business has someone like Leanne — the one who holds it all together with a grin, a weird story, and some craziness.

Leanne has been a total trooper through everything.
Nothing phases her. She’s steady. She’s hilarious.
She shows up — for the kids, for the parents, for the team — and most of all, she’s shown up for me.

She’s goofy in the best way, and loves every single child that walks through the doors like they’re her own.

She’s also one of the most quietly loyal people I’ve ever known.
Someone who does the right thing even when no one’s watching — and who’s been my absolute rock through the chaos, the growth, and the grit of this business.

After 18 Years… It’s Time
It’s been 18 years since I first walked through the doors of what was then called The Time Machine — and so began my journey with Kidzplay.

Since that day, there have been incredible highs, proper lows, and enough drama to fill a reality TV show. (In fact, more than one person has suggested we pitch a docu-soap — and honestly, they wouldn’t be wrong.)

As I bring this chapter to a close, I thought I’d take a moment to share:

The best bits,

the not-so-great bits,

and the bits I’ll be leaving behind.

Because yes… after 18 years, it’s time. Time for something new. Time for me to move on.

But I can’t start anywhere else but the team. The people who showed up, made magic happen, and kept me going when it got tough.

First up: Mr Adam Ekin
If you were ever lucky enough to meet Adam, you’ll remember him.

Ten years at Kidzplay.
Brilliant with the kids.
Up for literally anything.
Bearded. Often wearing a tiara (to the delight and horror of children).
Now teaching kids in inner-city schools in Leeds — still showing up with heart and humour.

He was adored by so many. Was he your favourite?

This is a personal one.

But I know I’m not the only parent who’s been through it — and I wanted to share.

Yesterday, my 19-year-old daughter was diagnosed with severe ADHD.

It’s taken a long time to get here. Years of being told I was overreacting. That I was too soft, too protective, too emotional.

But I knew something wasn’t right.

Both of my children are neurodivergent.

Ben is autistic. He masked all day at school — then came home and let it all out. Meltdowns, headbanging, overwhelm. School didn’t see it, so no one believed how bad it was. We didn’t get the help we needed for a long time.

Eventually, he got a diagnosis. And it gave him the language to make sense of who he is.

Olivia was harder to spot.

She’s sharp, funny, strong. But she’s been called lazy. Disruptive. Difficult. She’s had panic attacks. She developed a tic. She’s told me more than once that she didn’t want to be here anymore.

No one mentioned ADHD.

Not once.
Until now.

The diagnosis won’t fix everything. But it gives her something important — a way to understand herself. A reason things have felt so hard. A bit more kindness towards herself, hopefully.

I’m not posting this for sympathy.

I’m posting it for the parents who just know something’s going on with their child, even when no one else can see it. Even when people tell you you’re imagining it.

You’re not.

And you’re not alone.

If you’ve ever walked through the doors at Kidzplay with a child who’s already had a big morning, who doesn’t want to take their shoes off, who needs to move or hide or cry — I get it.

We’re not a specialist setting. But as a mum who’s lived it, I want you to know you’re welcome here. No judgement. No eye-rolling. Just space to be.
