A lost drawstring, frayed cord or damaged casing can make a favourite casual or outerwear garment difficult to wear, but the right repair depends on the garment’s original design.

At Gail’s Wedding Emporium, we can assess whether the work may involve replacing a drawstring, repairing a damaged channel or casing, adjusting cord length, or replacing toggles. Practical details include how the casing is stitched, whether the cord passes through eyelets, the fabric and lining, the hardware, the garment’s construction and condition, and the way the original design was made.

Suitability, options, cost and timescale can only be discussed after an individual assessment of the garment and the requested work. Alteration work may also be affected by the fabric, grain, lining, embellishment, fastening, hardware and overall condition.

Day 2 of 7 is all about small alterations to accessories and outfit details : from shortening or adding holes to belts, to adjusting straps, reworking ties and refining bag straps.

These little jobs can help everything feel more comfortable and sit just as it should.
