A blank canvas ready for a design to be created! A question I am asked often is what is the best material for painting on. My answer is always leather, faux leather,(the easiest as there’s room for error) or satin or silk - by far the most popular over the years due to the volume of wedding styles but also unforgiving and no real room for mistakes! Also canvas & nubuck - you just don’t usually have bridal styles in these though. The most limiting surface without a doubt is patent which I advise against but I have successfully painted on if the bride has her heart set. You pick up lots of techniques and hone your skill over the years so just like a tattooist I would always recommend using an established artist with experience for your shoes!
