𝗦𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵𝘄𝗼𝗼𝗱 - 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗛𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗮𝘅’𝘀 𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗵 𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗴𝗲

As part of The Halifax Heritage Festival we’d like to introduce Southwood Club.

History

Built in 1941 on Birdcage Lane as a private residence for industrialist Albert Kitchen (Willson Lathes Ltd), Southwood later housed a classical ballet school.

In 1989, local Freemasons purchased the property after their town-centre hall was bought out by the Halifax Building Society, subsequently expanding it with dedicated temple rooms, dining suites, and bars.

Use Today

* Masonic Centre: Acts as the primary headquarters for Halifax’s Freemasons, hosting numerous local lodges and side orders.

* Weddings & Events: Operates commercially as an event and licensed civil wedding venue, featuring indoor suites and outdoor garden pagoda ceremonies.

* Corporate Hire: Offers meeting and function spaces for conferences, seminars, and private gatherings.
