I had the honour of presiding over a service for a wonderful work colleague today. She was a very special lady... one in a million.
Tonight I visited my local church to pay tribute to her as it was lit up in her honour.
Green was always her favourite colour.
Donna Swindells rest in peace you beautiful angel. Your wonderful family certainly did you proud.

So on this occasion, I will be sharing songs that have been used in services, not the usual songs that I hear, but some unusual songs which have meaning and literally brought me to tears when I actually listened to the lyrics.
The first song I will be sharing is 'Drops of Jupiter' by train.
The lead singer Pat Monahan was grieving his mother's passing and was under pressure from his record company to complete his latest album.
On one night in his dream, his mother visited saying "do not worry, I am happy, I am floating in the universe with dropets of Jupiter in my hair".
The moment he woke up, he put pen to paper, and literally in 15 minutes produced this unbelievable iconic song... please enjoy.

It amazes me that during times of absolute loss, my families still find time to thank me.
They certainly don't need to..
This is a combination of two messages from two beautiful sisters thanking me for the funeral I did for their lovely mother last month.
I know I have said this numerous times - however I feel so privileged to be within this chosen role.

Sound advice for care givers who have lost a loved one.

I must admit, an opened curtain committal can give a more personal goodbye. I have had many families who say their final goodbyes with individual flowers placed on the coffin during the committal. It is intimate, it is beautiful.
