Getting ready in the onsite bridal suite and makeup room at Blackstock Country Estate is one of the most memorable and exciting moments of the day. It's a private, comfortable place to spend those precious early hours with your closest family and bridesmaids, glass of bubbly in hand, away from the chaos that usually surrounds a wedding morning.

Every detail has been thoughtfully designed for a calm atmosphere, with soft lighting and comfortable seating to help settle any pre-ceremony nerves. Bring in your own make up person and hairdresser, or do it yourself, the choice is entirely yours.

The Granary at Blackstock Country Estate is a converted traditional Sussex barn capable of seating up to 120 guests for your wedding breakfast. The barn boasts a wealth of rustic features, including a sandstone floor and an exposed beam vaulted ceiling, with large antique cartwheel chandeliers providing romantic ambient lighting throughout.

The floor to ceiling glazed barn windows open out to the landscaped courtyard, from where guests have access to the picturesque countryside and views across the Cuckmere valley and South Downs. A large mezzanine floor overlooks the main barn, ideal for a relaxed seating area, a photo booth or great photo shots from above.

500 years of stories live in this barn. Will yours be next?

The Tudor Barn at Blackstock Country Estate is a fine 500 year old Sussex barn, restored to incorporate ancient traditional frames and structures with modern finishings and facilities. It dates back to the 16th century, with a wealth of ancient oak structural timbers arching over a surprisingly expansive area for the ceremony, wedding breakfast, dancing and entertainment.

A fully refurbished minstrel's gallery sits above the large oak-finished bar, which serves a range of beers, spirits and wines. Large chandeliers made from antique cartwheels provide romantic lighting, and additional white or coloured lighting can be added to suit any wedding theme. The ceremony wing also features air conditioning for hot summer days.

Welcome drinks and canapés can be served in the courtyard or on the terrace, with unspoiled views of the Cuckmere valley and horses and llamas often roaming in the background, which has made it a firm favourite spot for wedding photos.

Saying "I do" as the Sussex sky turns gold has a certain something to it.

A twilight wedding at Blackstock Country Estate is a different day to a full Sussex barn wedding, and for a lot of couples, that's exactly the appeal. The"wedding day" starts from 4pm in our 16th century Tudor Barn, with guests typically arriving an hour or so before the ceremony, and then runs through to 11pm in the Tudor Barn and courtyard.

Rather than a full daytime meal followed by an evening one, twilight summer weddings include canapés and a choice from our evening buffet menu, which is where a lot of the cost difference comes from compared to a full-day barn wedding.

The summer light does a lot of the work too. A 4pm ceremony puts your drinks reception and couple portraits in a lovely part of the afternoon, with the light softening as the evening goes on, which photographers consistently tell us is their favourite time to shoot at the estate.

Twilight Weddings at Blackstock Country Estate are designed for couples who want something a little more intimate, a little later in the day. Ceremonies start from 4pm onwards in our 500-year-old Tudor Barn and grounds, with guests arriving an hour or so beforehand.

You get use of the Tudor Barn and courtyard until 11pm, the makeup room from 11am on the morning of your wedding, one glass of prosecco or bottled beer per person, a selection of 3 canapés per person, and one choice from our evening buffet menu, including options like Sussex Pork, Free Range Burgers, Lasagne, Gyros or our Classic Buffet.

Blackstock Country Estate sits roughly 90 minutes south of London in Hellingly, East Sussex.
