Some glimpses of my own Surrey garden which was pulled apart and re landscaped at the beginning of the year.

The hard landscapers left end of April which was cutting in fine for getting plants in the ground to give them a decent chance of survival…I don’t think any of us back in May had any idea that there would be a hideous ongoing drought that would be so persistent did we?!

Anyway, Not a drop of water had been given to the beds since it last properly rained (whenever that was…beginning of June maybe?)
Drought tolerant plantings are totally beating this god awful drought. 🙌😊

One of, if not my FAVOURITE David Austin rose… ‘Queen of Sweden’ 💕💕
She’s a real beauty in a very subtle and understated way.
Being upright and quite compact it is a total winner for a small garden where border space is limited.

Bare root planting season will be upon us before we know it, so go take stock of your garden and find a spot….you won’t regret it!

Taking a moment in the days rare brightness to appreciate the beauty of the Camellia 🌺

Today there was actual sun and it felt so blooming good!

Now I don’t want to speak too soon but today made me feel like we might be coming out the other side of the constant grey, wet weather that 2026 has so far gifted us gardeners.
Who knows….but I’ll take today with gratitude 🙏

From Vine prunings to door wreath…

Long gone are the days of wire frames wrapped in moss.
Moss is over harvested, slow to regenerate, and its removal can damage ecosystems and wildlife habitats. Choosing natural, fallen, locally sourced, or reusable materials helps reduce harm while still creating something beautiful 💚

Pruned a Vine. So made a wreath 🧡

First proper frost arrived last night which I have to say, after all the unusually mild wet weather we’ve been having lately it was very much welcomed.
The hat, long johns thermal gloves made their winter debut and it felt gooood!
*Cut to Mid Jan in the depths of winter and you’ll see me crying out for some warm spring sunshine though 😂

The Alberic Barbier rose is a distinguished rambling rose cultivar, renowned for its vigorous growth and elegant blooms.
Introduced in 1900 by Barbier Frères & Compagnie in France, it is a hybrid between the yellow hybrid tea rose Shirley Hibberd and the species Rosa wichurana .
