Grimsby Folk Club had a brilliant night last night with their guest, Colum Sands. Colum is a wonderful raconteur and songwriter of both serious and very witty songs which kept the large audience hanging on his every word. Paul Bellamy and Lynn Haynes opened the evening and the second half saw Nigel and Teri with a couple of songs and Gary and Helen from Bristol each sang a song. All in all a superb evening. We hope you will all be back in 2 weeks when our guest will be Sunjay.

What a fabulous night we had last night with our guests, Hunter Muskett who filled the evening with melodious tunes and wonderful close harmonies. What a pity the room wasn't full as it was a splendid night with Ian Skelton opening the evening with some of his own excellent songs and also 'Volare' sung in Italian. Starting the second half was Paul Pearson from Sheffield who gave us a couple of items including 'Sleeze' written by Ron Trueman-Border which Paul performed as a poem instead of a song. We get some excellent guests at the club but we do need your support to keep the club going so please come along and fill those empty seats. Our next guest will be Colum Sands on the 9th November followed by Sunjay and then Vicki Swan and Johnny Dyer for our Christmas Show, so please come and support them.

Because Tommy Sands had cancelled our part of his tour, our local resident performers provided a very enjoyable evening. Opening the night were Jan and Paul Ramsey with a set of new songs, both traditional and contemporary. Next Ian Skelton with mainly contemporary songs including one he had written about the problems that come with moving house. It was lovely to hear Arthur Knevett's rich voice again after a long absence from the club, performing a selection of ballads, and finally Paul Bellamy and Lynn Haynes closed the evening with a mix of contemporary, comedy and Lynn's entry in the Write a Song for Lincolnshire competition. All in all a very pleasant evening. What a shame so few had turned out, on what was a rainy night, to enjoy it.
