What a brilliant weekend at the Gretna Green Shortbread Festival!

We welcomed Highland cows, dancers, singers and pipers, alongside a bouncy castle, family activities and, of course, plenty of shortbread!

A special thank you to Scott Price, who previously worked as Head Chef for Gordon Ramsay in Dubai, for leading our shortbread-making demonstration and judging this year's Shortbread Competition.

Thank you to everyone who performed, took part and came along. It was such a lovely, wholesome weekend, and we hope you had as much fun as we did.

We’re having such a good Sunday at the Gretna Green Shortbread Festival 🍪

Come and see the Highland Coos, have a go at the games, enjoy the live entertainment and try some Scottish food and drink. There’s so much happening across the Famous Blacksmiths Shop today!

We’re also getting ready for our annual Shortbread Competition this afternoon. Who will be crowned the 2026 Gretna Green Shortbread Champion? 🏆

What a first day we’re having at the Gretna Green Shortbread Festival 🍪

The Famous Blacksmiths Shop is buzzing with live entertainment, family games, tastings, forge demonstrations and some very popular Highland Coos.

We’re here until 5pm today, 29th August, so there’s still plenty of time to join the fun. You can also come along tomorrow, 30th August, from 10am to 5pm, when we’ll be holding our annual Shortbread Competition.

There’s a £200 Gretna Green voucher for the winning Home Baker and a Gretna Green Kids Hamper for our winning Young Baker.

Fancy entering? It’s free, but you’ll need to register online by 4pm today and bring your shortbread along between 10am and 12pm tomorrow.

Preparations are underway as we're getting ready for two days of family fun at the Gretna Green Shortbread Festival. Happening this weekend! 🌟

There’s plenty happening across the weekend, with live music and Highland dancing, Highland Coos, kids’ shortbread decorating and activities, a bouncy castle, outdoor games, blacksmith forge demonstrations, food and drink tastings and more.

On Sunday, bakers will also be putting their best recipes to the test in the annual Gretna Green Shortbread Competition, with the winners crowned that afternoon.
