What a busy month May was, with temperatures plummeting and soaring, not all the flowers were ready quite when I needed them for this months’ two weddings, so I was lucky enough to be able to supplement my flowers with some from fellow flower farmer Susie and a few requested items (no way I can get sunflowers 🌻 bloom in May) from .byfordsons. Thoroughly enjoyed creating bouquets, meadow boxes and venue flowers for both my sister and sister in law’s big daysā€¦šŸ‘°šŸ¤µšŸ˜Šā¤ļø

Eastering….

I finally had time to pick a few flowers to play with ā€œjust becauseā€. This little bowl I found in a brilliant second hand barn that we stumbled across on a recent trip to Keukenhof in Holland (more on that on another post, but do go if you can! 🌷)

Other finds are this pretty Iris Easter egg in a local charity shop and I absolutely love working with these flower frogs. As a mechanic they give a base to arrange from and structure to my creations, but as you can see from the box, these ones are not new. I found 11 of them as a bundle on Facebook and when the heavy box arrived it came with a note saying ā€œmy 102 year old mother in law is so pleased these will get usedā€ so I feel like I have been gifted something very special, handed down from one florist to another and every time I use one of them I wonder about the hands that have created with them before me 🄰

Finally, the last photo is of one of my pittosporums in flower. This is the first year I’ve actually noticed it, I suspect because it’s cut so much it doesn’t always get a chance to flower! The tiny dark blooms are such a lovely contrast to the pale foliage and as a bonus it’s scented, so I couldn’t wait to cut and use some.

Wishing you all a good Easter Weekend, however it looks for you 🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷

The fancy pink/salmon narcissus are in full swing now, just in time for a special bouquet to be delivered later today, framed with a mix of foliage, butterfly ranunculus and a few tulips…despite the cold temperatures the spribg flowers are dancing now 😊

EDIT: Thank you to everyone who has responded so quickly, I’m delighted and also apologetic to say that I can’t take anymore Mother’s Day orders, however more flowers will be available all season as and when they are ready for cutting šŸ™šŸŒ·

And so the 2026 British Flower Season begins…..

If you would like a locally grown, seasonal bouquet, freshly crafted with flowers and foliage grown by me in Great Oakley, I will have a limited number available to order for Mothers Day, March 15th.

As a recap for those who are new to this page, or only know me for gardening services! I am a small scale cut flower grower, often called a ā€œmicro flower farmerā€ in the industry, growing a range of annual and perennial flowers and foliage, which are available from March until October as bouquets, jam jar posies, wedding and funeral flowers.

These flowers are the best of what is in season and grows well in the soil and climate right here in my corner of Essex. They haven’t been flown halfway around the world, or treated with chemicals that affect our environment. They are cut, conditioned, arranged and in your hands in the shortest time possible, ensuring that the flowers you get give you as much vase life as possible 😊

The photo here is what’s in bloom right now, by the time I cut flowers for Mothers Day at the end of this week, the elements will have changed slightly as more varieties start to bloom. This is the joy of using my own flowers in the arrangements I create, it is always the best of what’s in bloom right now. Each bouquet will be similar in key elements but not exactly the same.

If you’d like something different to give you your Mum or loved one this weekend, these bouquets are Ā£12 each with limited availability. Please message me if you would like to place an order. Or just enjoy the pretty pictures…there are lots more to come and looking forward to sharing this flowery year with you all.

Thanks, as always, for joining me on this page, in my flowery space. Lisa x

The MOST hastily thrown together arrangement and photos šŸ˜… in between cooking dinner, eating dinner and leaving the house. So much for carving out time for unfettered creativity, but it was so good to get out a beautiful bowl, gather these floral February stars from the soggy garden and place them together 🄰

This hamamelis x intermedia ā€œJelenaā€ has been keeping me company at work .nursery this week and I’ve been VERY tempted to buy it and bring it home, the scent is amazing 🤩 but I must be patient and wait as we’re moving and I’ve already got A LOT of plants to take with us, including this winter flowering clematis ā€œFrecklesā€ and one of my favourite viburnums ā€œCharles Lamontā€.
At this time of year, when here’s a smaller selection of seasonal flowers to admire and work with, the ones that are in bloom now really grab your attention. Even on drab days like today, there is something in the garden and cutting allotment to make me smile.
