Layston Music's "Sing for Your Supper" is a joyful, come-as-you-are evening of shared singing, good food and great company, hosted in friendly local pubs.

Led by a professional vocal coach, we sing well-known songs & enjoy supper together.

There’s something kind of magic about this bit…

Just me.
My piano.
A cup of tea going cold.
And a set list slowly coming to life. 🎹✨

Tuesday isn’t a “show”.
It’s going to be us in a room together — singing the 90s at the top of our lungs while I hold it all together on the keys.

I’ve been learning (and re-learning!) a stack of absolute tunes… and here’s the fun part — I won’t be deciding the order.

All the songs I’ve prepped will be written out and YOU CHOOSE what goes in the hat 🎩
You’ll pick.
I’ll play.
We’ll sing.

And while you’re eating your supper, I’ll be playing and singing for you too — so it flows between cosy dinner vibes and full-blown 90s energy.

Singing regulates the nervous system.
It deepens breathing.
It lowers stress hormones.
It releases endorphins.

And when we sing together?

We release oxytocin — the bonding hormone.
The “you’re safe here” chemical.
The one that makes strangers feel like friends.

That’s why community singing feels different.
It’s not performance.
It’s connection.

It’s medicine disguised as a 90s banger in a village pub.

So… I don’t start this one quite right 😅

And I’m leaving it in.

Because this — right here — is exactly what Sing For Your Supper is about.

Not perfection.
Not polished performances.
Not getting every entry spot on.

Just singing.

Today’s pick is Hedonism by Skunk Anansie — raw, emotional, very 90s.

And songs like this aren’t meant to be tidy. They’re meant to be felt.

When we sing together, something shifts. You’re not exposed. You’re not standing alone with a mic. Your voice blends into everyone else’s. The pressure disappears.

Every year of the 90s had its big ballads, its pop anthems…

And then there was the rock.

I’ll be honest — I will generally pick the rock one. And today I’ve gone for "Inside" by Stiltskin.

Gritty. Loud. Proper 90s energy.

What I love about nights like Sing For Your Supper is that everyone brings something different.
Some of you are here for the power ballads.
Some for the boybands.
Some for the indie.
Some for the rock.

And that’s exactly how it should be.
