KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE 🔑
Why Knowing How to Use a Metal Anchor Properly Can Make or Break Your Marquee Setup (Literally)
Setting up a marquee isn’t just about aesthetics, it’s about safety, too. One of the most critical (and often overlooked) components in a secure marquee installation is the correct use of metal ground anchors.
These aren’t just optional add-ons—they’re your first line of defense against unexpected wind shifts and structural failure.
Why Metal Anchors Matter
Marquees are large, lightweight structures by nature. Even moderate wind can exert enough force to lift or collapse a poorly secured tent. Metal anchors typically steel stakes or screw-type ground anchors provide the necessary grip into the ground to resist those forces.
But it’s not just about hammering a few stakes into the ground and calling it a day.
It All Comes Down to Wind Direction
Anchor positioning is crucial. Why? Because the wind doesn’t just blow it pushes, and it does so with massive force against the largest surface area of the marquee: the side walls and roof.
To effectively resist this force:
Anchor points must be aligned in opposition to the prevailing or forecast wind direction.
Anchors should be set at a 45-degree angle away from the marquee, not vertically, to maximise resistance.
