The aspect of the house is conveniently placed to enjoy the most stunning sunsets as the backdrop to your precious day. We are also excited to introduce our exclusive new 'Speakeasy' Whisky & Gin bar to ensure the festivities are toasted in style. Facilities and Capacity
Lancrigg exudes a timeless elegance and historic appeal. The property has connections to William Wordsworth, Charles Dickens, Charles Darwin and many other notable guests and residents. The Grade II listed building dates back to the 1600s and has been added to over time to create a unique and unusual space full of character and charm, including a recently restored traditional slate barn. The venue is surrounded by 30 acres of woodland and open fields at the base of Helm Crag and overlooking Easedale to the fells beyond. The property is fully licensed to hold ceremonies, so you can exchange vows in the house, barn or on the sweeping lawn. The historic dining room is ideal for smaller celebrations and can accommodate a wedding breakfast with up to 45 guests. Larger gatherings up to 110 guests can be held in the restored barn or for a festival wedding with the inclusion of teepees and sailcloth tents we can accommodate up to 200 guests. Services Offered
Every couple deserves something special on their wedding day, and Lancrigg provides precisely that. The team is dedicated to creating unique, relaxed and memorable occasions for clients. Regardless of the event style or size, we strive to help bring the celebration to life. With full facilities onsite providing the perfect area for professional caterers to provide incredible quality, locally produced food as well as our own in-house wrap around food options, the team can provide a list of trusted local suppliers if required. There is also accommodation onsite with 17 individually furnished bedrooms within the house and the barn. Lancrigg is easily accessible, has good facilities for disabled guests, and extensive private parking.

Most of our couples choose to have a nice relaxing morning on their wedding day, but Rebecca and Andy had other ideas last weekend! Both being keen park and fell runners, they headed over to Keswick to take part in Keswick Parkrun with some of their guests, 35 in total! 🏃‍♀️🏃🏼

We’re so lucky to work with the very best caterers in the Lake District and surrounding area, and when you book your wedding with us we’ll give you all the details of our favourite suppliers! 👌
You don’t have to choose any of the caterers on our preferred suppliers list, you’re free to choose any caterer you like to provide your wedding breakfast, but those on our list have catered weddings for us here before, and come fully recommended by us and our previous wedding couples, so you know you’re in good hands. 🙌
We provide all the wrap around food such as a welcome buffet on the evening before your wedding, and our wood fired pizza oven is perfect for some late night feasting! 🍕
We also provide a delicious breakfast each morning to all guests who are staying with us.

It was such a fabulous weekend, full of love, laughter and genuine warmth. And a party to literally make the rain stop! 🎉🎸🎶

“The Lancrigg is truly a special place, the perfect wedding venue.

If you’re reading this because you’re thinking of booking it, don’t hesitate for a second. I’m not sure words can really do it justice, but I’ll try!

We feel so so lucky that this magical corner of the Lake District was ours for the weekend in July 2025. Every single member of the team was wonderful, kind, enthusiastic, and such a joy to plan with. They embraced all of our ideas, added their own thoughtful suggestions, and made sure everything came together perfectly.

The venue itself is breathtaking. It’s clearly a real labour of love which you can sense the moment you arrive. Even on our first visit, on a drizzly February day, we knew instantly it was the place for us. The accommodation is excellent, and the beautiful walk down into Grasmere is an added treat for guests.

We are also deeply grateful for how supportive and flexible the team were when we had to rearrange our wedding for health reasons. Their kindness meant the world to us, and it’s something we’ll never forget.

We can’t wait to return in the years ahead and watch The Lancrigg continue to flourish. It will always hold a very special place in our hearts.”

I had the joy and privilege of experiencing The Lancrigg for the first time recently, attending my daughter and her now husband’s wedding. My review of all aspects of our stay can be summed up in one heartfelt word....PERFECT!
Stand out points being the location; the staff, in house and contracted in (special mention to Simon, Alex and the young lady whose name I sadly didn’t get, sorry); the relaxed feel and easy pace of our whole experience; no fussing; the genuine welcoming and cosseted feeling you get when you’re in any room or area of the buildings or outstanding grounds - mainly due to the hotel being left for us to enjoy its character and not being thoughtlessly or clinically stylised within an inch of its life; breakfast to die for....I could go on!
As a guest or a resident, I felt Lancrigg greeted us with a hug, as if you’re coming home, from the moment you step over the threshold, be it as a single, a couple, with children, dogs, all manner of kit etc. You’ll definitely want to come back time and time again.”

Good things come to those who wait…💕
That was certainly the case for Angela & Rob who celebrated their wonderful wedding with us in June after 30 happy years together! 🎉

It was such a joyful celebration shared with their closest family and friends! We loved their vintage Vauxhall Astra complete with ‘ROB’ and ‘ANGE’ stickers, which even took pride of place on their wedding cake! 🚘

We have so many happy memories from a wonderful weekend, definitely worth waiting for! 🥂

Our Story

The Lancrigg Hotel is a beautiful Lake District hotel set in 30 acres of mature gardens and woodlands. The stunning hotel is situated in ‘Wordsworth Country’ 1 mile from Grasmere village in the tiny hamlet of Easedale. The hotel has a relaxed, informal feel and visitors are made to feel welcome and at home from the moment they arrive.

There are ten spacious bedrooms to choose from, many with views of the gardens and fells beyond. All are en-suite and offer a comfortable & restful place to stay. The boutique rooms are all individually finished and named to reflect the history of the house. A recent addition is the Poet’s Bar which features a slate topped bar and a table set into a beautiful bay window which provides spectacular views of the surrounding gardens and Grasmere fells.

Lancrigg offer a choice of exciting dining experiences. You can take a well-earned rest on the terrace and enjoy light refreshments served from the newly opened Poet’s bar, or take the opportunity to open your mind to creative and inspired menus from their award-winning chef.
