Well another wedding delivered to a lovely couple over the weekend. A beautiful sunny day a bit of wind which was nice keeping the warm weather at bay. The Venue was a cricket club in a village and the ceremony was outside with a marque for the continued celebrations for the day.
The ceremony went very well, included was poems read by the brides brother and a bridesmaid. The couples journey and wishes for the future, secret vows to one another. 3 special guests their dogs! as ring bearers and a flower dog,so well behaved as they ran down the Isle to the couple. Beautiful exchange of rings, then the signing of their wedding ceremony certificate. The couple had decided to have a Handfasting Ceremony to finish, which most of my couples have.It is a very meaningful ceremony and has a beautiful reading. Then the couple were cheered as they walked down the Isle to their future together.

Lovely day at The Barn Hotel Wedding Fayre at Marston. Lots of interest, when talking to couples they still are unaware of an Independant Wedding Celebrant like myself and what we can deliver.
So, what do I do as an Independant Wedding Celebrant, I deliver your wedding ceremony of your dreams it is personal to you and your partner. And it is built around you, your choices and wishes. The only barrier is I cannot marry you legally. All my couples go to the register office and have the legal side of their marriage performed at their local registra office,that can be as little as £80 each with 2 witnesses. They then mark this with maybe a meal whatever they choose. Then a couple of days later they have their wedding day ceremony with me wherever they want a venue of their choice. Could be hotel , back garden own home, village hall it does not have to be licensed for weddings.
Once the date is booked with me I see the couple several times before their big day, enabling the couple to discuss their wedding, I get to know them and they get to know me. Within the ceremony it is their choice what they want to include, whether it's their children been involved, secret vow's, a handfasting ceremony. I charge £100 non refundable deposit on booking and £350 in instalments after that.
A registra and celebrant from the council charge approximately, £500- £800 for their services which you fill out a form they maybe see you once. On the wedding day chances are you will not see the same Celebrant and registra. You see who ever turns up for 10 minutes before the ceremony. The ceremony is the same as the bride and groom before you , not personal at all !

As we come to the end of 2025 , I look back at all the beautiful amazing weddings I have delivered this year. And the amazing couples I have had the pleasure of meeting.
I would like to wish them all a Happy 1st Christmas as a married couple also to Jane and Nigel as they continue in their marriage. And to all the couples I have met, and about to meet to deliver their wedding ceremony of their choice in 2026. I look forward to our meetings and your beautiful ceremonies.
