🏴The Quaich – A Toast to Tradition 🥃✨
As your Master of Ceremonies, one of the most heartfelt moments I love to help create is the sharing of the Quaich – Scotland’s traditional cup of welcome and farewell.
The word Quaich comes from the Gaelic “Cuach”, meaning shallow cup, and its history runs deep in the Highlands. For centuries, it has been used to offer a guest their first warm welcome, and later, a fond farewell.
Made originally from staved wood, horn, and leather, and later in pewter and silver, the Quaich’s twin handles – or “lugs” – symbolise trust between those who share it. 👐
In weddings, it’s a beautiful moment for the couple to seal their bond with a shared dram – a gesture of unity, hospitality, and heritage. Whether you’re Scottish born or just love the culture, the Quaich is a timeless way to weave tradition into your celebration.
Let’s raise the Quaich together – for love, friendship, and unforgettable memories. 💍💫
