National Fostering Agency Getting it right in Scotland
We are committed to improving outcomes for Scotland’s Children. Our agency covers the whole of Scotland, including the Highlands.

We work with more than 130 foster parents and 200 children. We started as a small agency with around 40 carers and have since grown to become a large agency with 138 foster parents, but we have succeeded in retaining our local identity and feel. We’ve been finding loving foster carers to improve Scottish children’s lives for decades. We work hard to build good relationships with local authorities

across Scotland as well as local groups like the Scottish Through Care and After Care Forum. Our aim is to equip foster carers with the skills and support they need to ensure the best possible outcomes for foster children and young people and we’re keen to celebrate all the successes of our children. The team at NFA Scotland is committed to ensuring that foster carers feel supported and listened to. Someone is available to respond to issues at all times of the day and night and, wherever possible, the same person will see things through from start to finish to provide consistency and continuity. NFA Scotland manages its business according to local need and demand, but with the backing of a large national agency (National Fostering Group) behind it. This allows us to tap into a central pool of expert support and expertise, while maintaining an awareness of what our children, foster parents and local authorities need. We pride ourselves on providing a very high standard of care for some of Scotland’s most vulnerable children and young people. We achieve this by retaining and investing in our staff and foster carers, ensuring our matching process is effective, and working hard to give our foster children the same opportunities to achieve as any other young person.

We asked Fiza to tell us about one of the most positive relationship she has experienced since becoming a foster carer. She shared a heartwarming story that involved not only the young baby she fostered but also the child's family:

"Fostering is a rewarding experience, building connections with children and families. Some people form lasting bonds with those they've fostered, while others find it challenging due to the temporary nature.

Fostering has changed my life completely Specially with this young new born baby, that came to live with us for almost 8 months .The amount of love and positivity she brought to us all has impacted us for ever, she will always be a part of us in our hearts and as her parents say 'We will always be her other family and I will always be her mama'.

Her family had so many fears and worries but with time they all faded away as we worked with them and supported the birth family in every way possible so she can go back and be with them in long term.

With so much love, care, dedication and support she grew into much confident and happy baby. From her parents to all professionals involved loved the way she was raised in our home by everyone.

We will miss her."

Easter Fun Across NFA South West

During the Easter holidays, our foster families enjoyed some fantastic events across the South West!

In North Cornwall, children took part in a Charity Easter Egg Hunt at Trevathan Farm, helping raise over £1000 for Penhaligon’s Friends. In Andover, families came together for games, a picnic, and an egg hunt, with lots of laughs and chats.

North Devon had a brilliant turnout for a fun-packed day of bouncing, crafts and games. New young people were warmly welcomed and everyone got involved in planning summer activities. At another event, families enjoyed crafts, sweetie bingo, and a coordinate egg hunt – a big hit from last year.

Thank you to everyone who joined in and made it so special! 🐣💛

Today marks the start of the Fostering Networks' Foster Care Fortnight.

They will be celebrating the incredible impact of foster care whilst also raising awareness of the challenges foster carers face.

NFA Scotland will also be celebrating the power of relationships throughout our agency .... follow our page today for some fantastic celebrations to shout about !

🎉 Today’s the day! Foster Care Fortnight is officially here! 🎉

We're going to spend the next two weeks celebrating the incredible impact of foster care. We'll also be raising awareness of the challenges foster carers face, while campaigning for change in the sector.

We want to start by saying a big thank you to foster carers for everything you do. We really do appreciate the care, support and dedication you show every day to the children and young people in your care. 🙏

This year, we’re celebrating The Power of Relationships. 💛 Over the next two weeks, we’ll be sharing incredible stories that show just how important relationships are in the fostering community, so keep an eye on our social media.

✨ How can you get involved? ✨

- Talk about your powerful relationships by printing off our placard and sharing on social media
- Spend time with important people in your fostering community. You could go on a walk with other foster carers or read with the children in your care.

We're so excited to see how everyone celebrates The Power of Relationships!

Foster Care Fortnight is here! ⭐🩷

From 12 to 25 May, we’re proud to stand with fostering communities across the UK in support of The Fostering Network’s annual campaign – this year celebrating The Power of Relationships.

At National Fostering Group, we know that meaningful relationships sit at the heart of every fostering experience. Whether it’s the trust between a foster carer and a young person, the encouragement from dedicated support teams, or the friendships that blossom in our wider community – these bonds help shape brighter futures.

Throughout the fortnight, we’ll be sharing stories and voices that show how connection, compassion, and care truly make a difference.

Next week marks the start of Mental Health Awareness Week, and we are proud to stand alongside our fostering families in recognising the importance of mental wellbeing.

Every month, our agencies across the UK host support groups, family gatherings, wellbeing days and more to help promote and protect the mental health of those in our fostering community.

This week is a reminder to take time for your own mental health as well as supporting others. If you or someone you know is finding things difficult, www.mentalhealth.org.uk is a brilliant charity offering support to anyone who needs it.

NFA North Easter Half Term Fun! 😄

This Easter half term, we brought the action to four different locations with our outdoor Laser Tag events and the children loved every minute of it!

Kitted out in army overalls and armed with laser guns, our young adventurers battled it out in the fresh air, building teamwork and having loads of fun.

We held events across West Yorkshire, North Yorkshire, South Yorkshire and Lincolnshire, giving children in each area a chance to take part in this exciting experience.

🌳 A Day of Forest Fun with NFA South West! 🌳

We had such a lovely time enjoying a day packed with forest activities and games. From a treasure hunt and squirrel tag to making (and eating!) delicious pizzas, toasting marshmallows, crafting with clay, playing parachute games and creating beautiful leaf pictures, there was something for everyone to enjoy.

It was wonderful to see the children exploring the forest area, connecting with nature and each other. Their smiles said it all, but here’s what they had to say:

✨ “My favourite part was making a new friend” – S
✨ “My favourite part was squirrel tag” – T
✨ “My favourite part was everything” – S
✨ “My favourite part was everything” – N
✨ “My favourite part was the pizza”

A big thank you to everyone who joined us and made the day so special 🌿🍕

Congratulations to Melanie a friend of our NFA South East Carer Recruitment Officer Hazel who completed her first London Marathon on Sunday.

Mel was raising money for the National Autistic Society a cause close to her heart and has also been spreading the word about fostering.

Despite the heat, Mel successfully collected her medal and found herself with a well-known face for company along the way.

Well done Mel we are proud of you!
