14 North East wedding venues I actually recommend
Photographer-tested. No nonsense.
1. Barn on the Bay
Wild coastline, barn charm, and cows in the distance. Windswept magic without the faff.
2. Blackfriars
Historic, intimate, and smells faintly of good roast dinners. A medieval gem — no dragons.
3. South Causey Inn
Buses, barns, quirky cabins — and vibes for days. Great for couples who hate doing things the “traditional” way.
4. Bowburn Hall
Secret garden vibes, warm staff, and just the right amount of twinkle lights.
5. Shortflatt Tower
Medieval tower meets countryside calm. Like a fairytale — but with a working toilet.
6. Healey Barn
Stone walls, soft light, and always golden hour somewhere. Rustic but not rustic-rustic.
7. Horton Grange
Georgian manor with character. Quiet, refined, and the kind of place where your champagne won’t be flat.
8. Matfen Hall
Grand without being cold. The windows, the grounds, the sheer drama — all highly photogenic.
9. Le Petit Château
Flamingos. Fireplaces. Frenchness. Odd and brilliant in equal measure.
10. BALTIC
Contemporary, concrete, and very cool. If your Pinterest board is full of art galleries and zero fairy lights — this is your spot.
11. Redworth Hall
Big windows, sweeping gardens, and countryside that actually looks like a period drama.
12. Wylam Brewery
Craft beer + chandeliers + a dome = somehow perfect. Great party energy, even better golden hour outside.
13. St Mary’s Heritage Centre
Old stone, big arches, and a view of the Tyne.
14. Jesmond Dene House
Stylish, low-key
