THIS SATURDAY IS OUR MONTHLY MARKET AT Mrs Kirkhams Lancashire Cheese!

As the tradition begins, I’ll be offering a seasonal KIDS FREE CRAFT 🎃👻🧙‍♀️

This months Saturday market craft will be;

GLOW IN THE DARK WITCHES HATS

Decorate your own witches hat for Halloween with special glow in the dark paint pens!

These are limited to one per child and are not suitable for children under 5 years old.

A Halloween colouring sheet will be offered for children under 5.

Stock is limited so first come first served!!

I know I say it a lot but, this time of year is my favourite, endless faffing in the shop with my wonderful friend Lucie , little corners becoming more magical by the day, creating beautiful gifts, tying ribbons, arranging branches and putting up twinkling lights.

And my absolute favourite? Watching little faces light up when they spot ‘Mr Mouse’ in his Christmas hat hanging from an old branch in the shop.

Three months of busy, beautiful, wholesome, slightly chaotic bliss ahead and I genuinely couldn’t be more excited.

Our little Flower Stable really is about to come into its own. ❤️🌲

Of all the lovely things in my little shop, can you guess what the bestseller is? CARDS!

Honestly, you lot go absolutely mad for them, and I love it.

Because is there really anything better than receiving a handwritten card?

Knowing someone has stood in a little shop, studied the shelves and thought, “Oh, that is SO you.”

Then taken it home, found a pen, thought carefully about what to write, popped a stamp on it and sent it on its merry way. Or better still, placed it straight into your hands with a great big hug.

In a world where almost everything has become digital, there’s something so wonderfully wholesome about a little piece of paper with someone’s handwriting on it. Something you can pop on the mantelpiece, tuck into a drawer or find years later in a box of treasured things.

Long live the handwritten card, I say. 🥹

I’ve had some beautiful new artists join our shelves recently, and I’m forever adding to the collection. There’s always something new to rummage through.

And has anyone spotted a little bit of Christmas creeping in amongst them? 👀🎄

It’s NEVER too early. Not in this shop anyway!

🎄 PARENT & CHILD CHRISTMAS WREATH WORKSHOP – GOOSNARGH 🎄

This might just be my favourite Christmas workshop this year!

Bring your little one along for a cosy evening of Christmas music, hot chocolate, festive treats and wreath making at Goosnargh Village Hall.

You’ll make one beautiful Christmas wreath together, using fresh winter foliage, natural decorations and ribbons, something lovely for your front door and, hopefully, a little Christmas memory you’ll both keep too.

There’s something about autumn that reminds me it’s okay to let things fall. 🍂

I took this photo today because I couldn’t get over how beautiful this leaf was. Almost perfect. The colour, the shape, every tiny vein illuminated by the sun… and then there’s that little hole.

And actually, I think that’s why I love it even more.

I think sometimes people look at me and think I’ve got it all together. I’m running a business, organising things, making plans, looking after everyone and generally just getting on with it.

But I have my little holes too.

I take medication every day that helps keep me balanced and able to spin my plates, and in amongst everything else going on, I forgot to order my prescription and ran out, typical me!

It probably wasn’t the best week for that to happen. It’s been a few days of feeling overwhelmed, sad and a little bit worn down by life, and tonight something seemingly insignificant was the final straw.

So I’m calling it. I’m climbing into bed, turning everything off and accepting that today just needs to end.

Tomorrow I’ll get up, make a coffee and try again.

Just a reminder from me, the people who look like they’re holding everything together might actually be working incredibly hard just to hold themselves together. Be gentle with people. And with yourself.

And on that note - I’ll be back to my usual warm and fuzzy posts tomorrow! 🍂🤎

THERE’S A LITTLE WITCH IN ALL OF US 🌙

For the women who grew up worshipping Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman, wanted to live in that house, keep herbs hanging in the kitchen and have been waiting patiently for their Practical Magic era ever since (me)

This one’s for us.

Join me after dark in the Stable for a candlelit evening making wild witches’ brooms from British woodland finds, dried flowers, fragrant herbs and seed heads, finished with ribbons, charms and botanicals chosen for love, luck, protection and new beginnings.

Think Practical Magic meets an old English woodland cottage. Flickering candles, autumn herbs, something warm to drink and a little magic in the air. ✨

Saturday at our monthly Artisan Market was just bloody lovely 🤎

So many new faces through the stable door, lots of familiar ones too, and that proper little buzz around the farm that I love so much.

Seeing you all browsing, chatting, picking up little treasures and already talking about Christmas has well and truly tipped me into festive mode!

The stable is slowly changing with the season too, bells, stars, tiny treasures and twinkly lights are creeping into every corner, and I’m SO excited for the next few months.

Thank you, as always, for choosing to shop small and support all of us little independent businesses. Now I’m ready for crisp mornings, ridiculous amounts of foliage and watching the stable fill up with Christmas shoppers 🤎✨
