🍂 SUMMER'S OVER. Well, that was nice while it lasted.
Dark mornings incoming.
Coats coming back out.
Heating arguments starting.
Someone in the office will soon say: "Ooh, it'll be Christmas before we know it."

Please don't be that person.
There is one advantage to autumn though...
Hot coffee + bacon bap weather is officially back. ☕🥓

And frankly, we're much better at those than we are at coping with 30°C inside a metal burger van. Val survived the summer. 😂

This is such a lovely pub, we’re really happy to be a part of this event - hope to see you there!! 🍔🍔🍔

🚨 SOFT LAUNCH WEEKEND🚨

Following the announcement earlier in the week, we officially get the keys Tuesday and, providing there are no setbacks, we’re planning to open the doors for DRINKS ONLY on Friday 25th September from 3pm. 🍻

The kitchen will follow the week after. Once the kitchen is ready to go, chefs happy with their new kitchen, we’ll initially be serving a simple menu while we get everything up and running. As you can appreciate it doesn’t leave us much time to get everything set up to open!

For this weekend though we will have both Grumpy Grandpa Durty Burgers & Gurt Wings (see times and dates below) serving in a food truck out the front!

Quizzes, Live Music and other events will then follow over the coming weeks as we recruit, train and build our new team. There will be a few faces we have retained as well!

We’re not going to pretend the first few weeks will be completely seamless. There’ll be a new team, new management, new systems and plenty for us to learn and get right as we go.

So if you visit us at The Pilot in those early weeks, please bear with us!

Pardon the pun… but we really don’t want the Pilot to have a bumpy flight! 😂✈️

There’s also a bit of personal history here for us. Both Mary and Shaun lived in Quedgeley for a number of years — and we still own our home here — so we know just how important The Pilot is to the local community.

We’re incredibly excited about what we can do with the pub and, most importantly, we want to make it a place the local community is proud to call their own.

This is the start of a very exciting new chapter for us — and we’d love you to come along for the ride. ❤️

I’ve tried to reply to as many questions as possible over the last few days so plan to follow up with a FAQ video before we open. So if you’ve got any questions or concerns, stick them in the comments below! 👇

Apparently today is National Cheeseburger Day 🍔🍔🍔
For once, whoever invents these ridiculous national days has actually done something useful.
So we'll be celebrating in the traditional manner:
Beef.
Cheese.
Bun.
And absolutely no attempt to make it look sophisticated.

BAD NEWS: THE CHEF'S ESCAPED. ✈️🌴
Val has apparently decided that standing in a metal box cooking burgers for you lot isn't enough of a holiday...
So he's actually gone on one. 🙄
Which means Grumpy Grandpa is currently CLOSED while our chef enjoys himself, drinks something cold and hopefully remembers that he has a job to come back to.

The good news?
VAL'S BACK FRIDAY 25TH SEPTEMBER. 🍔
And we'll be straight back to the important business of smashing beef, frying bacon and ruining everyone's plans to have a sensible lunch.
