🏏 U13 Match Report 🏏

Friarmere U13s 138-3
Glossop U13s 138-4

🀝 Match Tied

A fantastic game of cricket for our U13s, earning a well-deserved point away from home against a strong Friarmere side.

Batting first, Friarmere's experienced top three came out aggressively and put our bowlers under pressure. A few dropped catches and some costly extras helped them reach a challenging 138-3 from their 20 overs.

In reply, Luca and Vincent continued their growing opening partnership brilliantly, adding 49 runs together to set the platform. Fred then arrived at the crease and was at his destructive best, smashing an unbeaten 33 from just 19 balls, while Ted's 16 kept Glossop firmly in control. A couple of late wickets meant we couldn't quite get over the line, but a tie was a fair reward for a tremendous effort.

Key contributions:

⭐ Luca 1-18 (4) & 31* (44)
⭐ Ted 1-18 (3) & 16
⭐ Jack 1-12 (3)
⭐ Vincent 25 (32)
⭐ Fred 33* (19)

🏏 U15 Match Report 🏏

Woodley U15s 131-3
Glossop U15s 132-1

A fantastic win for the U15s against a previously undefeated Woodley side!

Glossop had work to do after a below-par first innings with the ball and in the field, giving away too many extras and runs through mistakes. Chasing 132 was always going to be a tough ask.

But the batters responded brilliantly. Archie led the way with an excellent 42*, Charley added 16, and JB produced a superb unbeaten 43 from just 25 balls. Seth 10* and Henry 9* then showed great composure at the end, knocking off the runs with two overs to spare.

A win to be proud of, full of grit, support and belief against very strong opposition. πŸ’š

Notable performances:
⭐ Archie 42*
⭐ Ted 2-15

πŸ† Player of the Match: Joseph β€” 43* off 25 balls

🏏 2nd XI Match Report 🏏

Milnrow CC 300-5 (45 overs)
Glossop CC 150 all out (31.5 overs)

Glossop won the toss and elected to bowl but faced a strong Milnrow batting performance.

The hosts started positively before Glossop fought their way back into the contest during the middle overs. David Wilde was particularly effective, using his variations well to help slow the scoring and pick up key wickets. However, Milnrow's number five took the game away with a devastating unbeaten 118 from just 65 balls, helping his side post 300-5.

Bowling highlights:
⭐ David Wilde 2-66 (14)
⭐ Nathan Allen 1-11 (3)

In reply, Glossop began well despite the early loss of Bolton in unfortunate circumstances. David Wilde (43) and Sam Elliott (36) built a promising platform, but a familiar pattern emerged as wickets fell regularly to unforced errors. Glossop were eventually bowled out for 150.

A disappointing result, but plenty to work on ahead of next week's trip to North Road and an opportunity to get back on track.

🏏 1XI Match Report - SAT 6 JUNE 🏏

Flowery Field CC 189 all out (49 overs)
Glossop CC 147 all out (35.3 overs)

Glossop won the toss and elected to bowl on a wicket that had seen plenty of rain throughout the week.

The visitors made an excellent start with Digby Evans continuing his impressive return from injury, removing both openers as Flowery slipped to 46-4. Evans and Anuk Fernando shared four wickets between them, while Will Hargreaves and George Sonczak maintained control through the middle overs. At 115-8, Glossop looked firmly in command before Flowery skipper Feakes produced a superb century, guiding his side to 189 all out.

Bowling highlights:
⭐ Will Hargreaves 3-36 (15)
⭐ Digby Evans 3-34 (7)
⭐ Anuk Fernando 3-29 (6)

In reply, Gill and Dale got Glossop off to a positive start, reaching 45 before wickets fell in quick succession. Anuk Fernando played some classy shots in an innings of 41 from 42 balls, but with the ball moving both in the air and off the surface, wickets continued to fall and Glossop were eventually dismissed for 147.

A second successive league defeat, but plenty of positives remain. Lessons to learn and attention now turns to next week.

🏏 U9 Green Match Report 🏏

Glossop CC 249
Clifton CC 289

Clifton CC won by 40 runs.

A fantastic effort from our U9 Green team this week against a strong Clifton side. πŸ’š

With the bat, Joel and Monty got us underway against some tight bowling, working hard for every run. Ruedi and Fred showed great resilience and excellent running between the wickets to keep the scoreboard ticking over. Seb and Ollie finished the innings strongly, finding the boundary regularly, with Seb particularly impressive through the leg side with some excellent shots.

In the field, every player gave maximum effort. While we’ll continue working on bowling accuracy at training, the boys never stopped trying. Seb and Ollie bowled with good pace, Joel kept the pressure on with accurate bowling, while Fred and Ruedi impressed behind the stumps. Monty also produced a brilliant stop to save certain runs.

Most importantly, there was clear improvement across the whole team once again – exactly what we want to see. Well done boys! πŸ‘
