Avalon Dream Weddings

Avalon Dream Weddings Welcome to the page of Dawn Kinsella of Avalon Dream Weddings. What better place to join with your soulmate?

Avalon was once an island in an inland sea, and all who come to its shores still feel the peaceful and often transformational energies, bringing to the fore long-remembered awakenings of the soul. Known in the modern world as Glastonbury, this magical place, often called the Heart Chakra of the planet, is a jewel in the heart of Somerset. Here we have the first Temple to the Goddess in over 1,500

years, a registered place of worship that provides a space for reflection and healing for the many pilgrims who visit here. Glastonbury is now firmly on the map as a desirable wedding location, with its sacred landscape, colourful spirituality, great vibes, stunning scenery and beautiful historic sites. A doorway into the mystical to complete your sacred union to your beloved. We are Priestesses of Avalon and have both undertaken the necessary three years of training, which connects us deeply and fully to Goddess, just as our ancestresses connected throughout the world, before the destruction of the Temples. We live in Paradise, not only in geographical location but in the consciousness that has resulted from the life choice made by us to serve from Glastonbury outward to the world wide community. As Priestesses we conduct ceremonies for all who wish to connect to ancient nature-based spirituality and are often invited to other parts of the UK and other lands to teach and hold workshops that connect us all once again to a long-lost understanding of Goddess and the Divine Feminine. As experienced Ceremonialists and keepers of feminine wisdom we step fully into our Priestess roles to serve you.

One day back in 2018 I was asked to create an engagement ceremony for a lovely couple visiting Glastonbury from Germany. The ‘Groom to Be’ planned a surprise proposal to his beloved on the Tor and he wanted a ritual to complete the magical experience of his beloveds ‘YES’ to the question in hand. I suggested an incense blending ceremony for the couple to create their own blend that is personal to them and that could be used in their future wedding ceremony or other rituals, a secret blend that had been co created within a ceremonial setting, a dedicated temple of love space, decorated with gorgeous fabrics and altars to sacred union.
Being into sacred geometry I felt that the Vesica Pisces would make a powerful setting, two circles overlapping with the central space (Vesica Pisces) which literally translates as ‘bladder of a fish’ This symbol of the fish was adopted by Christians to represent Jesus as the Fisher King, however The origins of the Vesica Pisces is extremely ancient and unknown. It seems to crop up in many cultures, including Norse, Pythagorean Greece, ancient Egypt, Mesopotamia, India and Africa.

The symbolic meaning of the Vesica Pisces officially represents balance and creation and it is very prominent in Glastonbury, especially in the Chalice well gardens, with the Chalice Well lid, and the Vesica pool, where the tumbling red waters cascade through the gardens and collect there.
In my role as Priestess Registrar for Goddess Temple Weddings I had always envisaged this shape as the two betrothal wedding rings, and the shape of two coming together in perfect balance, It could also symbolise the meeting of Twin Flames conjoining in this earthly incarnation as the Beloveds..
And so I created the first, of what came to be many couples blending ceremonies, known as , ‘Sacred Incense for Beloveds ’ and still forms part of the rituals for goddesstempleweddings
Here the couple enter the temple setting with the Vesica Pisces ritually created for them, this is their pilgrimage of sacred loves union before the marriage take place, holding the ceremonial rites we are all literally ‘out of time’ stepping into an otherworldly realm. The beloveds are invited to choose from beautifully scented barks, flowers, resins, seeds, rose petals, & precious spices, to create together with loving and sensual intention . The ritual is held beautifully by the Sacred Celebrant, who initiates and contains the flow of this pre wedding energy with grace and deep reverence. This incense is then used at the beginning of the beloveds Celtic Handfasting ceremony, during the rituals of Air, to symbolically clear the future and the past. The celebrant tells all who are present that the couple created this special incense in sacred ceremony and what this represents. This adds a special narrative to the Handfasting rituals. In my time as a Sacred celebrant and conducting many Celtic handfastings, these elemental rituals evoke such beautiful feelings of connection to the wedding rites, marking the beginning of the ceremony with reverence and grace. The Handfasting Hoop & Wand

Traditionally in Handfastings the marriage knot is used to bind the beloveds hands together with ribbons or cords, hence the saying ‘Tyng the knot’. The Sacred Celebrant at SCA learns the handfasting ceremony with the visually stunning and powerful ritual of the hoop & wand method.
The Bridal Hoop, made from weaving willow into a circlet by the Bride, symbolises the feminine principle in several forms, such as, the Mother line, the womb and the yonic gateway. The Grooms wand, carved by the Groom, symbolises the Masculine principle such as, the Father line & the phallus. These two ritual objects are also miniature representations of the Beltane rites on May 1st of carving the Maypole ( the wand) and the ceremonially prepared entrance created in the land by the May queen (Bridal hoop) joining the marriage of the May King & Queen and so the sacred marriage of the land as the womb Mother, she who is fertile and to be activated by the Maypole phallus with the dance of life weaving the ribbons around the Maypole. As a Sacred Celebrant you are conducting the sacred marriage and union by binding the couples left hands to the hoop & wand with red & white ribbons. The red ribbons represent the menstrual flow, mother line, the white ribbons represent the semen or seed, the ribbons have the same symbolic reference as the Maypole with the ribbon weaving, joining the masculine and feminine energies in the great marriage.
This method is also adjusted to suit same s*x handfastings, the two hoops for two Brides and two wands for the Grooms.

Weddings at the time of Samhain are divinely popular for discerning couples that want something very different.. The 31st October, known in the olde Gaelic language as Samhain (pronounced Sow wain), marked the end of the harvest year and the beginning of Winter, before it was changed by Julius Ceaser to the Julian calendar, and then the Gregorian calendar in 1582. In the Goddess Temple and for Pagans of all spiritual paths this is the time of year when we connect with our departed and ancestors, when the veils between worlds are thin and we honor all that have gone before us,,, it is also the energies of transformation, and to many couples this means the transformation process in their relationship to forge and strengthen the bond between them with the Handfasting, the sacred marriage and commitments to each other in these beautiful ceremonies conducted with the rituals of the four elements... it is also fun!! Pumpkins, besom broom jumping, bonfires. mulled cider, hot delicacies and fabulously outrageous up grading your dressing up skills. From fairies & Elves to pirates and gorgeous temple priestesses... Glastonbury Isle of Avalon is the perfect place to express your more flamboyant side.. Can we rock your wedding? Yes we can!
