🚨 Hero in Cumbernauld Update! 🚨

Hello everyone! You might have noticed that Hero in Cumbernauld has had a bit of a glow-up recently. A brand new look with a more striking feel. That’s thanks in part to a little help from ChatGPT (cheers, digital sidekick!).

Now for a bit of news, especially for those who've been with us since the beginning… I, the founder of Hero in Cumbernauld, will be stepping back from the main Spider-Man role. 😭
Why, you ask? Well… let’s just say spandex and ageing aren’t the best of friends, and no matter how hard I try, my voice doesn’t quite scream "teenage superhero" anymore, unless the teenager's had three coffees and a mortgage.
But don’t worry — I’m not going anywhere! I’ll still be very much involved, in creative direction, costume work, and everything else that brings our heroes to life. And I’ll still be suiting up from time to time in other Spider-Man variants (yes, the multiverse is real in Cumbernauld).

Taking up the main Spider-Man mantle full-time will be Hero in Cumbernauld Jnr — and he’s ready to swing into action! (Some of you have already had the pleasure)

We’re also really excited to be working with some talented young performers (some fantastic seniors from Shakespeare’s Kids) as we begin training up a new generation of heroes, including our first female leads! Big things are coming, so stay tuned.

Yesterday, we had the pleasure of doing another double visit in Bellshill!

It’s not often that parents share photos we’re able to post, so a huge thank you to Kirsty for sending us some fantastic pictures from our visit to see Justin, especially on such a scorching day in Glasgow!

Not only did Kirsty capture some lovely moments, but she also shared some truly kind words about our visit, which meant a lot to us. We’re delighted to say we've already received another booking from a parent who attended the party, and to top it off, Kirsty also made a generous donation to CHAS (Children’s Hospices Across Scotland).

We’re so grateful — thank you again, Kirsty & Justin.

🎄 We Know It's Summer... But Let's Talk Christmas! 🎄

We know, the sun’s out and Christmas is probably the last thing on your mind. But we wanted to give you a little update early…

Last year, we mentioned that our Santa and Grinch visits would be coming to an end, and sadly, that’s still the case. With so many Santa options out there (many offering more than we ever could), it’s become harder for us to keep up. Our visits were always done non-profit to support CHAS, but with so many commercial providers now in the mix, we've been left behind.

But don’t worry – we’re not disappearing completely! 🎅✨

This year, since Santa is extra busy, he’s calling in some help… from our superheroes and Star Wars characters! 💫🦸‍♂️

So if you’re looking for something a little different, something full of magic, smiles, and Christmas cheer – let our heroes bring a bit of festive fun to your doorstep this December.

Becoming the Hero: The True Meaning of Wearing a Costume, when I put on the costume.

To put on a costume is more than just fabric and masks—it’s stepping into the heart of a story, breathing life into a legend, and embodying a character so fully that, for a moment, reality bends.

When I wear a costume, I don’t just dress as Spider-Man or Darth Vader—I become them. I move as they would, I speak as they would, and I carry the presence that makes them larger than life. It’s not simply about looking the part; it’s about making children believe in the magic of that character.

This transformation is more than play; it’s a responsibility. I do this for CHAS (Children’s Hospices Across Scotland), where belief and joy are priceless. In that moment, to the children who meet me, I am the hero. Their eyes widen, their smiles grow, and their world fills with the wonder of possibility.

Not just anyone can put on a costume—it’s not the fabric that makes a hero, but the heart behind it. To truly wear a costume, you must commit to the role, embrace the character’s essence, and bring the story to life. It’s about giving children a chance to believe, even for a fleeting moment, that their heroes stand before them. And that belief—that spark—is the true magic. I hope that every child goes to bed believing they met their heroes.
