Life like a painting.

So deeply grateful for time.
A deep pocket of time with a dear friend.

Crossing bridges.
Standing stones.
Stepping into the equinox.

Hey Folks! Joy as rebellion anyone?

We’re going to gather online for a (bakers) dozen of Tuesday evenings 6-7pm UK time starting September (dates & more details in last post).

Why Tuesday? Cause that’s when little P’s with her pops!

In part, I wish to continue to nourish the creative glee of making Chunky Jewellery - to nourish and honour the courage and expanse of saying yes to creative energy.

In part, I know the grind of late stage capitalism is yanking at our collective heels and we got to keep dancing!

In part, because community, courage, connection, creativity - well, they feel like necessary forces of rebellion.

So come, let’s gather.

Bare witness to each others mess and majesty.

Nourish art - nourish hope,
make space for peace, in secular/sacred prayer.

Dare to dream, to tend and imagine.

Come join a creative online accountability group to get some creative fires burning for the longer nights? (In Scotland!)

I’ll gentle hold space for a deep dive with The Artist’s Way.

Please pass on to folks that you reckon might welcome the group accountability to tend to creativity in these times.

The walk to Queen Street (for the most expensive 50 miles on a train in the uk apparently …)
The laughter on the train when gets on at Croy
The lady who heard us talking, came to the show and hollered - get this to Broadway - at the curtain call
The view to the water from George Street down.
The guys in .coffee (yes I’d love a flat white, thanks!)
The solidarity and support of the staff at
And the fringe miracle that the dressing room was clear for us pre and post show to yoga, sing & lol.
The brilliant audiences that have laughed and cried with us. 🤣😭
The welcome outdoor pedestrianised tables for a post show (available for sponsorship for the world tour!)

A thousand thank yous for all the little rituals and holdings and helpings and hollers.

I’ll miss the rhythm of these rituals.

We’re on until the 24th August 1.30pm Assembly Room Music Hall, Edinburgh.

Tell your people - CHUNKY JEWELLERY -

‘profound heart and defiant humour.

This is a performance masterclass that moves with grace and lands with power.

A moving, funny, and deeply necessary piece of theatre.’

CALLING ON MY COURAGE NOW.

I wrote a fragment of a song ‘calling in my courage now’ during a residency at - ‘rest as practise, song as ritual.’

The song found its way into CHUNKY JEWELLERY.

David Whyte’s summation feels fitting ‘Courage is what love looks like when tested by the simple everyday necessities of being alive.’

I could say more but it’s my day off so I’m practising rest & going for a massage!

It’s like being in love.

The vitality in performing requires a softening and a heightening, surrender, vulnerability, tangible connection, deep generosity & a tearfully edged possibility of failure.

This letter first shared with me some years ago by the audacious & again very recently by my dear lune sister .

I reckon Martha was getting at this …

A Letter to Agnes De Mille
There is a vitality,
a life force,
a quickening
that is translated through you into action,
and because there is only one of you in all time,
this expression is unique.

And If you block it, it will never exist through any other medium and be lost.
The world will not have it. It is not your business to determine
how good it is
nor how valuable it is
nor how it compares with other expressions.

It is your business to keep it yours clearly and directly
to keep the channel open.
You do not even have to believe in yourself or your work.
You have to keep open and aware directly to the urges that motivate YOU.

Keep the channel open...
No artist is pleased...

There is no satisfaction whatever at anytime
There is only a q***r, divine dissatisfaction
a blessed unrest that keeps us marching
and makes “us” MORE alive than the others.

Martha Graham
( - a letter to Agnes De Mille-)

However you make or create - do it - more & often and if for no other reasons than it brings us more alive - awake, alert, alive, daring.

May we energised by the possibility of beauty - keep the channel open.

Today’s the day the inner work becomes the outer work.

My dear friend, co-creator & performer & I have dug deep through the coals of a time to mine for the diamonds - Ben has - with immense comedy and care - crafted our unfolding into form. - the most patient man - sifted through 70 odd loops on my loop pedal to find the gold.

Stupendous love and thanks to ALL the collaborators that have helped create this piece of CHUNKY JEWELLERY. and Bex and Keir, Catherine, Holly … Joy…

Appreciation post incoming for all the beautiful folks that have held and hoped, listened & supported in a myriad of ways.

For today, I want to acknowledge the deepest gratitude to Ben & Davey for their essential tenacity & tenderness to enable and encourage our inner stories to be translated artfully into outer form.
