The next round of the McCallum microgrants closes for applications this week. Apply for up to £1000 are available for projects that promote classical singing. All UofG Music students are eligible to apply as are University ensembles, clubs or societies that are involved in classical singing.

There will are two funding rounds a year and the current deadline is 5pm on Thursday 15th October.

🍁 Autumn has arrived in Glasgow and our programme of lunchtime concerts for the season is now live! 🍁

Join us this term to celebrate the 575th anniversary of the University with performances from our five of our very talented students, staff and alumni.

All concerts take place in the University Concert Hall in the main building and are completely free to attend! You can reserve your space via the link in the bio.

We’re kicking off the series tomorrow (Thursday 8 October) with a set from Maaike Siegerist who will be performing songs about space, astronomy, AI, quantum computers and “quantum robins”.

On Thursday 22 October, music alumni The Stone Combo will be treating us to jazz classics from The Great American Songbook, bringing to life music by icons like Ella Fitzgerald, Chet Baker and more

Evie ‘s band will be with us on Thursday 5 November. Expect a celebration of folk music with a mixture of beat, body and mischief!

On Thursday 12 November we’re looking forward to welcoming multidisciplinary composer and pianist Adam Heron for a programme of thrilling piano music

Our final concert of the series will be on Thursday 19 October from alumna Jo Mango who will be presenting exciting ensemble arrangements of her new album ‘The Lightswitch’, accompanied by string quartet, percussion and harp

The School of Culture & Creative Arts at the University of Glasgow is delighted to invite applications for the Dr H Morag M McCallum PhD studentship in research related to classical singing in its widest remit including interdisciplinary projects (theatre, film, translation, etc), performance, pedagogy, musical works, social, cultural, political and artistic movements (contemporary or historical), with a preference for projects that either research underrepresented groups’ engagement with classical singing, or seek to promote such an engagement.

The deadline for applications is Friday 15 May 2026, and the successful candidate would ideally start in October 2026.
