This week I had the privilege of leading the Celebration of Life for a truly remarkable lady whose 92 years were filled with adventure, curiosity, courage, and love.

Her family said "Thank you very much for everything you've done for us over the last few days to make our mum's funeral run smoothly with a high level of professionalism. We are very grateful that you managed to uplift our spirits at the same time".

Born in Mexico, raised in Peru, fluent in Spanish, and a traveller of the world she embraced life with a fearless spirit that never left her. Yet for all her adventures across continents, her greatest joy was her family, who spoke so warmly of her generosity, humour, wisdom, and unwavering love.

A service filled with stories, laughter, memories, and music reflecting her Latin American roots—a fitting tribute to a woman who lived life fully and entirely on her own terms.

Rest peacefully. What a journey it was. ❤️

Thank you also to Simon Yates Howarth's Funeral Service and Overdale crematorium fans

A message of thanks........

“Thank you for the wonderful service. Everyone who attended could not praise you enough. One friend from America said he wished services in the USA were half as good as the one you gave for Diane."

This week I had the privilege of leading the Celebration of Life for a local lady.

It was an honour to tell her story — from her early life in Bolton and family roots, to her love of roller-skating, dogs, and strong friendship and family bonds.. We spoke of her humour, her straight-talking nature, her generosity, and the way she cared for people in both the ordinary and extraordinary moments of life.

My thanks to Mark at and the team at Overdale Crematorium for their care and support.

I'm grateful to h@top fansp@followersh a meaningful farewell.

What families and couples say about me

“We didn’t realise it could feel this personal.”

“You’ve put into words what we couldn’t.”

“That felt exactly like them- it’s like you knew them.”

And honestly, that’s the bit that I feel most proud of.

Just sitting with people, listening to stories, and helping shape something that really sounds like the person or couples it’s about.

It’s a very special thing to be trusted with.

For many people, a crematorium is somewhere they only visit at a very emotional time. Open days like this remove the unknown and help people understand the care, dignity and professionalism that happens behind the scenes.

As a celebrant, I see how much reassurance it gives families when they feel more informed and comfortable with the setting where they will say goodbye to someone they love.

If you’ve never visited before, this is a valuable opportunity to look around, ask questions, and meet the team at East Lancashire Crematorium, Radcliffe

You are warmly invited to our Crematorium Open Day. Saturday 30th May 10am-2pm.

Come along to learn more about everything that happens behind the scenes at the crematorium and take the opportunity to visit our beautiful memorial grounds.
Refreshments will be kindly provided by Toby Carvery and an ice cream van will be on site from 11am-1pm.

All are welcome 💚

This was an anonymous nomination, which makes it even more special.

Today I had the privilege of leading the Celebration of Life for Jake Simon Rothwell.

A service that truly reflected him — with laughter, stories, music… and of course, tears too. Because when someone brings that much life and energy into the world, they leave a huge space behind.

The chapel was filled to capacity, which said everything about Jake. He was one of those people — the kind you don’t forget. Funny, warm, a bit cheeky, and always at the centre of things.

A proud BWFC supporter, a karaoke king, and someone who loved his people, his music, and the good times — today felt exactly right for him.

An honour, as always, to support a family in saying goodbye — and to help tell Jake's story. The family have given me permission to post these details on my page and share accordingly.

“Don’t remember me with sadness… remember all the laughter.” 💙 fans

“Calm under pressure. Care in every detail. Meaning at the heart of every ceremony.”

Yesterday I had the privilege of leading a Celebration of Life for a much-loved lady.

As with any live ceremony, there can occasionally be small, unexpected moments. Yesterday there was a brief pause while an important audio recording began, before the service continued smoothly and her voice was heard exactly as intended.

In work like this, I always aim to deliver each ceremony with care, precision, and a calm and seamless flow — because families deserve nothing less when saying goodbye to someone they love.

But moments like these are also a gentle reminder that what truly matters is not technical perfection, but the meaning, connection, and love at the heart of the ceremony.

It was a privilege to work with the family and help share her story.
💛

With thanks to our funeral director Simon and all the team from Howarth's Funeral Service and our chapel attendant Tracey White at Overdale Crematorium for all their support.
