These Mindful Photowalks have become a much bigger part of my work than I initially planned, but I am so glad they have! Here’s why:

📸 I love seeing the joy on someone’s face when they nail a new camera skill that lets them document the world in a whole new way

📸 Our conversations stretch far and wide. From practicing self-compassion to how light influences the stories we’re telling, we leave with a new found perspective on much more than photography.

📸 It’s a multi-sensory experience. Not only are we taking photos of our environment, we’re noticing how soothing the wet moss feels on our skin, smelling the roses and enjoying the wind in our hair.

I’m constantly amazed by artists that not only create work that feels true to them, but also have the courage to put it out into the world.

Aren’t we lucky that we get to embellish our homes with their brilliance!?

The brought together an amazing array of printmakers from across the country and I had the pleasure of documenting the magic that unfolded (‘scuse the pun)

I loved finding out more about the inspirations and varied techniques of each artist and making portraits that bring them out from behind the work. It’s something that us artists can find so difficult to do, but is ever so important. People are nosey, they want to see who is behind the art they love so very much!

There will be most certainly be a second post because I couldn’t fit all my fave photos in one! I’ve tagged as many artists as l can for now so you can see more of their awesome work 🎉

Sorry but how is it June?

May went by in a flash because I was ill for half the month, and pretty darn busy for the other half!

This is where I’ve been for much of the last 2 weeks.

I was unfortunate enough to experience a (suspected) ruptured ovarian cyst and it’s been a terrible time tbh. All of a sudden I had to cancel fun days out, postpone meetings and rely on codeine.

I’m so glad to be on the other side and have been joyfully back at my desk over the last few days, slowly emerging back into the world and trusting my body again.

Alongside learning a lot about my insides (and how issues like this are treated in A&E 🫠), it’s been a big ol’ lesson in patience and self-compassion.

Not to be too LinkedIn, but I do actually have some business learnings which I’ll pop in a newsletter next week 😎

On Sunday I’m hosting my next Mindful Photowalk in Bath, and I’m incredibly pleased I’m back to my usual self in time! There’s still a couple of tickets if you’d like to join - tickets are on my website 🧡

Here’s your permission slip to not have to smile in all of your Personal Brand Photos.

We’re socialised as children to think that if we’re not smiling, we’re being intimidating, rude, or have a resting bitch face.

Nope.

We’re just being us. Fully and completely ourselves in that moment. No performance, no masking.

Of course, smiley, relaxed portraits are on our shot list too, but I’ll always encourage some thoughtful portraits like this.

They’re useful to share alongside a more meaningful or values-based post or blog, and also for you to know yourself better. It’s unusual to have images of ourselves that look like this, so what better way to take the chance to make it happen.
