Well… my new pond is finally in! 💚😂

It wasn’t quite as straightforward as I’d imagined. I buried an old sand pit, but it wasn’t level! 🤦‍♀️🤣 Out it came, and we started all over again. This time I used a pond liner. Hopefully, second time’s the charm!

Now I can’t wait to see who comes to visit. My biggest wish? Frogs! 🐸 Not only are they wonderful little characters, but they’ll hopefully help keep the slugs under control too—nature has a wonderful way of finding its own balance.

I love the idea that even the smallest garden can become a sanctuary for wildlife. Every pond, flower and quiet corner can offer a home to creatures that are so important to our environment. My pond is hidden away, surrounded by long grass.

Here’s hoping that before long I’ll be hearing the gentle croaks of new residents, watching dragonflies dance across the water, and seeing this little pond become a thriving haven for wildlife.

Sometimes things don’t go quite to plan, but they’re always worth it in the end. 💚

Today reminded me exactly why I love what I do. ❤️🌿

I created a pet memorial pot with the kindest couple, alongside their beautiful little dog, sharing memories of a much-loved companion.

I chatted with a lovely lady about my old dance teacher as she carefully created her own jar, each flower placed with thought and meaning.

I discussed floral arrangements in treasured antique finds with the most glamorous duo. Adorable.

I admired handmade bracelets with an adorable family, full of smiles, laughter and love.

And I shared tears with a couple as they spoke about their grief, a reminder that flowers often become part of life’s hardest goodbyes as well as its happiest celebrations.

Today wasn’t just about flowers. It was about people.

About listening.
About kindness.
About connection.
About stories.
About love.

We never truly know what someone is carrying behind their smile. A kind word, a listening ear, or even a hug can mean more than we realise.

I feel incredibly blessed that my little corner of the world is filled with such wonderful, caring and inspiring people. Thank you for trusting me with your stories, your celebrations, your memories and your hearts. X

2026: The International Year of the Female Farmer

Behind every seed sown, every harvest gathered, and every field cared for, there are women whose hands, knowledge and dedication have shaped agriculture for generations.

For too long, female farmers around the world have been under-recognised. Their contribution to our food systems, rural communities, biodiversity and economies is invaluable, yet many still face inequality in access to land, resources, opportunities and fair pay.

This year is a chance to celebrate their resilience, acknowledge their expertise, and continue the conversation around equality, recognition and economic fairness.

As a flower grower, I know that farming is so much more than what we produce. It is care, patience, connection to the seasons and a commitment to looking after the natural world.

Here’s to the women who have always worked the land — often quietly, often unseen — and to ensuring their contribution is valued, respected and rewarded.

🌿 My British Flowers Week Story 🌿

As a little girl, I was always happiest outside. Whether I was picking tomatoes warm from my family greenhouse, watching wildlife in the garden, or simply being surrounded by the beauty of nature, I felt a deep connection to the natural world.

Life has taken me on many journeys. I’m incredibly proud to be a mum to two amazing adult children and their wonderful partners, and a very devoted pug mama too.

After leaving teaching, losing my dad and going through a divorce after 27 years of marriage, I found myself with a broken heart and a longing to return to what had always brought me comfort — nature.

That is how my floristry journey began.

I created The Little Flower Jar with a desire to celebrate flowers as they truly are: wild, seasonal, imperfect and utterly beautiful. I grow some of my own blooms and lovingly source the rest from incredible British flower farmers, who work tirelessly through every season, nurturing the land, supporting wildlife and growing flowers with care and respect for nature.

British flowers tell a story. They haven’t travelled thousands of miles to reach us, they support our pollinators, often require fewer chemicals, and they allow us to embrace the changing beauty of the seasons.

I feel so grateful that my work reflects who I am and what I believe in. Every bouquet, every jar and every stem is a little piece of my story — one rooted in nature, resilience and finding beauty after difficult seasons.

The Secret Garden 🌿🌸

As a little girl, I was captivated by The Secret Garden — a story of a forgotten place brought back to life with patience, love and the quiet magic of nature.

There is something so beautiful about the idea that a garden can heal us. That amongst the tangled branches, hidden pathways and tiny new shoots, we can find hope, joy and a sense of wonder again.

Perhaps that is why I still love gardens today. They are never just about flowers. They are about memories, seasons, resilience and new beginnings.

Every seed planted, every bloom opened and every wild corner left for nature to flourish tells a story.

A little bit of secret garden magic can be found everywhere if we stop long enough to notice 🌱✨

Dear gentle reader…

Some things are simply meant to be together… 🌹📚

Today I’ve placed a beautiful Emily Brontë rose by David Austin in a little jam jar from Jane Austen’s house — two of my favourite authors brought together in the gentlest of ways.

I’ve always loved the thought that ordinary, humble objects can hold so much beauty and history. A simple jam jar, now holding a rose named after another literary great, feels rather magical.

And the rose itself… oh my goodness. David Austin roses truly are something special. The fragrance of this Emily Brontë rose is absolutely unbelievable — rich, romantic and completely transporting.

A little moment where stories, gardens and flowers meet. 🌿✨
