Folkestone Harbour Arm Reinventing the English Seaside Experience Folkestone’s Harbour Arm has swiftly become the beacon for the regeneration of Folkestone as a destination town.

Still in the early stages of its redevelopment, Folkestone’s Harbour Arm has rapidly become a food, drink and entertainment destination for the town and its visitors. Originally the railway terminal for the Folkestone- Boulogne Ferry and departure point for soldiers on their way to the Western Front, the arm still embraces the town’s working fishing harbour, becoming a pivotal point in the town’s

future and its historical past. Small, independent businesses along the pier give it its unique flavour, and its reputation is growing as restoration continues along the platform and across the railway bridge and beyond, with the addition of an onsite bakery and brewery, a regular farmer’s market and other seasonal events.

🐶CALLING ALL GOOD DOGGOS🐶

We have teamed up with Best Behaviour School for Dogs to bring you the first ever – Folkestone Harbour Dog Show!

On Saturday 21st of June the team from Best Behaviour School for Dogs will be hosting a family - friendly, fun dog show open to all. The show categories are Prettiest Girl, Handsomest Boy, Golden Oldie, Cutest Puppy, Waggiest Tail, Most Gorgeous Eyes, Best Trick & Musical Sits! There will be prizes and rosettes for each category.

Registration opens at 11.30am, followed by an introductory talk, with the shows kicking off at 12.30pm. Places are limited so please make sure you register early on the day to enter.

Part of our 10 years of Folkestone Harbour celebrations series looking back at the immense effort that has gone into making this incredible space what it is today.

The closure of the original Goods Yard in the 1960s, filled with train carriages and cargo, was the beginning of the end for Folkestone’s rail/seaport operations. 60 years later the site has changed significantly. After a few rag tag tables and socially distanced hay bails were brought in as a DIY response to the pandemic, the space is now a teeming hub of street food, activity and events.

Each year has seen improvements. From more traders with bigger units to weatherproof seating and an extensive free cinema programme. It's no wonder The Goods Yard has become a destination in its own right.

Due to the brilliantly bright weather recently, we’ve been advised that tonight’s display should be pushed back slightly to ensure the show is as impressive as we intend it to be.
