Congratulations to the beautiful Mr and Mrs B. This August we had the pleasure of putting together the bouquets and buttonholes for these glorious humans big day, but also managed to make a little something for the handsomest boy of the day. Doesn’t Oakley look marvellous too. Can’t wait to see the official pictures but just wanted to share these sunflowers with you before we move into autumn.

This wedding was a great example of how we can work to our couples preferences. We knew in advance exactly what the bride wanted for her flowers and the boys buttonholes were clearly planned, meaning we were able to sow and grow specific varieties in the field this summer to match the request and deliver precisely what was asked of us.

We’ve been trialing a new system for delivering fresh buttonholes for our wedding flowers this summer. Previously we’ve used plastic test tubes which work fantastically, but because we don’t always get them back and can’t be certain they’ve been recycled we’ve been worried they have become a single use plastic.

We’re not perfect, but every little helps. We care about our environment and how the choices we make affect it. By using paper cups we can keep the buttonholes hydrated, protected, and easier to pack up and transport. Plus, that’s one less plastic item in the mix.

Now to research and find some paper cups from recycled materials… we’re always evolving and changing, learning and developing. Not everything we do has to be as big as our 20,000 litre rainwater tank, but we do try to think about all the elements of what we do.

What a beautiful evening we had last night for our sell out Sip and Snip with Simpsons W**e Estate in the field. The wonderful team from Simpsons guided everyone through their different wines and the flowers were putting their best petals forward for our guests.

Thank you so much to everyone who came along to support and enjoy themselves. We were very impressed with the selections of blooms that were picked and loved chatting to you all - so much so in fact that we might have forgotten to take many pictures! (Miss H - you were missed in more ways than one!)

This Sunday we had the absolute pleasure of hosting a baby shower in the field. Here’s a selection of what the ladies picked. It never fails to amaze us how everyone has such style and taste. They all had the same field to choose from but no one came back with a matching bucket!

Sunday 20th September, 10:00 - Bearded Iris bare root sale
We will be opening the studio at 10:00 for you.

We are currently lifting and splitting the plants in the field. Any surplus we are going to be selling off to you guys for £2 per plant. Some varieties maaaay have lost their labels in the field so we’ll also be doing some lucky dip bags of between 10-15 assorted plants for £10.

Same deal as the dahlia tubers - sold as seen, prices are kept low because we are not a specialist and these are our surplus stock. We just can’t bring ourselves to hurl them on the compost heap.

All plants have been in the ground here for three years and will be a mix of sizes and shapes, colours and heights. Will do our best to label them all - however no guarantee we are perfectly accurate 🤣🙈

After a glorious iris open day earlier this month hosted by Wholesale Perennial Nursery we’ve finally had some rain, meaning we can lift and split the bearded iris. These gals have been in the ground for 3 years. Meaning they’re a bit bald in the middle, there’s a bit of rot and a lot of crowding.

Following what we learnt from Christine and the fab team at Howard’s it’s being put into practice and the splitting has begun. What a satisfyingly neat job they look like afterwards!

We will absolutely have spares, so it’s highly likely we’ll be selling off some of the surplus much like our dahlia tuber sale. Details to follow if you fancy a bearded lady for your garden!

Ps. They’re tough as old boots and very drought tolerant
