So we all know farmers are never happy with the weather, and flower farmers are no different! In the past fortnight we’ve gone from drought, frost, 33°, gale force winds and finished with so much rain we thought Noah was about to pick us up on his arc!

As an outdoor worker it is very hard to accept that anyone would think climate change is a conspiracy theory. Just listen to that rain, which we needed, just perhaps if we could have spaced it out a bit, please Thor!

We are officially in Pick Your Own Flowers Season! Exciting! Junior Readman has spent a very productive day in the field wedding after getting all our Friday Flower Club bouquets delivered. As we get ready for some of the busiest weeks of the year here’s a little peep behind the scenes (quite literally) from one of the best view spots we own.

The wildflower meadow has burst into a sea of white ox eye daises and is looking absolutely beautiful. We’re actually considering another project for the future - a potential hide for birdwatching, a spot to read or chill out or generally just enjoy the view. Anyways - hopefully see you soon for one of our PYO Flowers sessions, Saturdays 11:00-16:00.

Guess who’s arrived! Yes. This heat has brought them on…The peonies have arrived. We are selling mixed bunches of peonies for collection from the farm. We’re putting together bunches of 5 peonies, foliage and some mixed stems from the field for £10.

If you would like to collect a bunch this weekend head to our website. You can book your slot for collection and pay through our website. Any questions comment or DM.

A little bit of field action. The foxgloves are looking beautiful and clearly our bees are loving them too. Birdsong courtesy of our local avian choir, changes all the time but always beautiful. We’ve got two workshops this weekend and looking forward to seeing everyone on the farm and teaching them how to make arrangements and plan their own cut flower gardens. Other dates still available to book online if you’d like to come along.

Happy international bee day! We love bees here. In fact Junior Readman loves them so much she’s been known to follow one around the field from end to the other, downing tools and leaving w**ds behind.

One of the reasons we love what we do so much is to be able to provide a safe habitat stocked with food and forage for our bees, supporting our local environment. Without bees, we wouldn’t have the food that lands on our plate, feed for animals, trees that fruit and reproduce or a thriving ecosystem. We grow our flowers alongside nature. Primarily for you, but regardless of how many weddings we flower, PYO sessions we host or Friday flowers we deliver, we’re never using every single bloom so we’re proud to feed the bees, and maybe stalk them a little on occasion!

Flowers. We nurture them, feed them, w**d them, support them, worry about their welfare, check the temperatures, obsess about their growth, get worked up about their soil and water situations. And then just when they’re at their happiest and doing their thing…we chop them off!
