As 2024 comes to a close, I just wanted to take a moment to thank each and every one of you for your support this year. It’s been a tough one, with months of illness and challenges that didn’t quite go to plan. But through it all, your kind words and kindness have been appreciated.

Here’s to a fresh start, better days, and continuing to serve the best customers anyone could ask for. Wishing you all a Happy New Year filled with joy, good health, and plenty of great food! Moving into the new year with hope and determination.

Thank you for being part of our journey. So looking forward to seeing and serving you again in 2025! 🍔

Morning customers and friends, I hope your all well. I wasn’t planning to comment on here until I was fit and well following surgery to say that we were re-opening. However life threw a curve ball. I have only popped on as I have still been getting calls, texts and messages for food since I went off on the 16th of July. Not everyone does social media, life is busy and clearly some folk are unsure if the van is open. So I just wanted to say that despite the best will in the world, for now the van is closed whilst I am still on the mend and recovering . I will keep you posted on progress, thank you for your understanding and support ❤️🫶🏻 As several regulars respond when asked “how are you today” …… “weel am no dead yet” sums it up beautifully and we shall keep moving forward one day at a time ❤️🙌

Open today 10:30-2:30 as normal, thanks so much for a busy Friday and Saturday despite these dreich days 🤪 Life is throwing us a curveball this July, with not only Mr D having an operation but one on the horizon for me this week too. So - after today the van shall be closed whilst we take a break until we are both back on our feet and able to drive, lift and cook burgers 🤪🍔 Thanks for your patience and understanding, not ideal but as we are a family run business our family (and health) is our priority ❤️ Hopefully I shall be back flipping burgers in no time 🍀

We’re thrilled to announce the shortlist for the 2024 Bloody Scotland Debut Prize! 📚🌟

📚 Suzy Aspley with Crow Moon (Orenda). A regular attendee of the festival she won Pitch Perfect in 2019 with the idea that became Crow Moon.

🌟 Daniel Aubrey with Dark Island (Harper North). He first attended Bloody Scotland in 2022 when his friend, Sarah Smith, was shortlisted for the debut award and his own debut was just going out on submission.

📚 Allan Gaw with The Silent House of Sleep (SA Press). A medical pathologist by training Allan was a runner up in the 2023 Glencairn / Bloody Scotland short crime story competition and his story – The Last Tram to Gorbals Cross.

🌟 Doug Sinclair with Blood Runs Deep (Storm Publishing). Born in Edinburgh and now living in Armadale, Doug first visited Bloody Scotland in 2014 to attend the Masterclass.

📚 Martin Stewart with Double Proof (Polygon). A former English teacher and middle grade author, Martin supported the festival in 2017 by delivering schools events in Balfron and Stirling.

The 2023 Bloody Scotland Debut Prize will be judged by BBC Scotland’s Arts correspondent, Pauline McLean, New Product Development Manager from sponsors Glencairn Crystal, Kenny Tweeddale and Journalist and author and 2022 Debut Prize winner, Tariq Ashkanani.

On the opening day of the festival, Friday 13 September, the shortlisted debut authors will appear on a Debut Prize panel at Central Library in Stirling chaired by BBC Scotland’s Arts correspondent Pauline McLean.

The presentation of both prizes will take place in the ballroom of The Golden Lion Hotel at 5.45pm washed down with Bloody Scotland cocktails courtesy of Stirling Distillery.

The winners will be interviewed on stage by TV and radio presenter Bryan Burnett after which they will join a procession led by the Stirling Schools Pipe Band to the first event of the evening at The Albert Halls, Stirling

Your custom and patience is appreciated 🙌 Huge thanks also to Daniel Aubrey for popping past today for a Smoke Stack and signing my copy of his debut novel Dark Island at the same time 😃😍 Delighted the van features in his gripping thriller set in Orkney - the perfect summer read full of twists and turns 📚

Thank you very much for keeping us so busy, we appreciate it ! Apologies to those we have been unable to answer the phone too this weekend or missed out on food today. The sun has been shining and it’s strawberry tart season again …. whoop whoop 🙌😆 Dare I say it, it did actually ….. feel like summer …. the heat in the van was tropical 🤪 A reminder that we will hopefully have many hot sunny summer days to come 🤞🏻❤️🌊
