🍰🍰 HOP FESTIVAL IS ALMOST HERE! 🍰🍰

The Hop Festival will be with us again on Saturday 5th September and, of course, Kay’s Country Kitchen will be ready and waiting from 9am! 🎉

We’ll have LOTS and LOTS of treats for you to nibble on… and yes, before you ask, we do provide spoons and forks! 😂🥄🍴so you can eat as you listen to the amazing bands, a real treat for us being so close to the Market Inn as we get to enjoy the great tunes.

A quieter week for us this week just before we head into the cake and bake hut for hop festival Saturday

We started with a little buffet for the friends
Of the cottage hospital who installed another bleed kit for the town at Newton Place Surgery, it’s sits in the AED unit, these bleed kits are truly lifesaving, thank you to the team.

To a beautiful floral cake, I do love a flower cake which went on its merry way with a simple, one of favourites (you will notice I have many favourites) lemon drizzle.

A deep caramel, vanilla chocolate loaded cheesecake for our daughter’s 33rd birthday.

Abbie celebrated her 21st with a red velvet heart and Mr and Mrs Sissons celebrated their wedding with this bright and beautiful disco ball cake.

A 2 tier princess cake for our great niece Daisy, she is a little cutie

A batch of 6 gluten free cupcake went to the next road as they always do each week.

Thanks to everyone that asked us to be part of your celebrations.

So we’ve had a rest and will be raring to go next week for the hop festival.

A different kind of week this week, a real split between cake and catering which has kept me on my toes.

What a variety it has been too, from
Football to jungle book theme to a whole cake of celebrations.

Then over to an afternoon buffet followed by an evening buffet what was a blast from the past as they were celebrating a 60th birthday they had gathered items together that we would have played as a kid, oh the memories who remembers a space hopper ? How many times did you fall off ??.

Once again thank you to everyone that chose us to be part of your celebrations.

What an assortment of things we’ve been up to recently! 🎂💕

We’ve had the privilege of catering for a celebration of a loved one’s life, creating birthday cakes for a whole range of ages, teachers cupcakes, and finishing with a beautiful two-tier christening cake for little Albie. What a gorgeous sunny day he had to celebrate! ☀️💙

All of our little people, animals, benches, shed, flowers and vegetables are lovingly handmade, making every cake truly unique and created with care.

Thank you to each and every one of you for allowing us to be a small part of your special celebrations. Whether it’s a birthday, christening, celebration of life or another milestone, it’s always an honour to create something personal for your day.

🍰 Our next Cake & Bake Hut will be open on Saturday 8th August. We’d love to see you, so pop along and treat yourself to some homemade cakes and bakes!

🌬️ BREAKING NEWS… the cake kitchen is no longer trying to bake the baker! 😂
Whoever switched the giant fan on outside… thank you! I don’t know about you lot, but I’m very grateful we can all breathe again. Last week the cake kitchen was so hot I was considering charging the cakes for a spa day! 🥵🍰
To try and beat the heat I’ve been creeping into the kitchen at 5.30am… because apparently that’s what sensible people do!
The last couple of days have been absolutely glorious though. Perfect baking weather!
Here’s what we’ve been up to…

🐮 Highland Cow cupcakes… honestly, I think he deserves his own fan club.�🏎️ Lightning McQueen cupcakes… Ka-chow! They disappeared quicker than a racing car.�⛪ An Ordination cake for Elizabeth – a first for me and such a privilege to create.�🎉 Jimmy celebrated turning 10.�🥂 Abbie joined the fabulous 30 club.�🎈 Charlie reached the mighty age of ONE…�🍫 A vegan chocolate cake for Hannah travelled three hours packed up with cool blocks. It probably had better travel arrangements than most holidaymakers!

The Cake & Bake Hut was open this Saturday too, and it was so lovely seeing so many familiar faces (and a few new ones too!). Thank you to everyone who stopped by for cake, a chat, a laugh and to keep me company. I genuinely love our little catch-ups—it makes all those early mornings worthwhile. ❤️

🌞🍰 The Cake & Bake Hut is OPEN this Saturday (11/07) from 9am! 🍰🌞

Hopefully it’ll be a little cooler tomorrow because it’s been rather toasty in the cake kitchen today! 🥵 Our internal air conditioning has definitely had a bit of a malfunction over the last few days… but we’ve battled on to make sure the cake counter is full of delicious treats for you!

💚 A Little Change of Plan… 💚
Hi lovely people,
I’m so sorry, but I’m going to have to move The Cake Hut Day to next Saturday, 11th July.
We’re having a little bit of landscaping done, and very kindly they’re able to start tomorrow. As it was all arranged rather last minute, I’d only end up getting in their way (and probably on their nerves! 😂), constantly popping in and out of the cake kitchen all day. They’d never say a word because they’re far too lovely, but I know it would make their job much harder.
So, my sincere apologies for the change of plans, but The Cake Hut will definitely be open next Saturday, 11th July, with lots of delicious treats waiting for you!
Thank you all so much for your patience, understanding and continued support. It really does mean the world. 💕

And… relax! 💕

The last creation of the week left at midday for the lovely Jenny’s 80th birthday celebration.

What a week of amazing celebrations we’ve been lucky enough to be part of, in so many different ways.

🎂 A box of mixed gluten-free cupcakes.
🥧 Four Gypsy tarts travelling 2½ hours up the motorway.
🦖 A cake for little Orla, who loves pink dinosaurs and was celebrating her 3rd birthday.
✨ A stunning pink and gold buttercream cake.
🐟 A set of fish-themed cupcakes for one very lucky dad.
🎉 Another beautiful 80th birthday celebration cake.
🍰 a friends themed 30th birthday cake.
🥪 Twenty-one buffet platters, along with a chocolate-loaded birthday cake to celebrate Aaron’s 40th.
🥪 a small buffet to nibble for the opening of the bleed kit box that was placed out the recreation ground on Monday.
💍 And we had the absolute pleasure of creating both the wedding meal and evening buffet along with a traditional marzipanned and iced one tier cake, for the gorgeous Emma and Leon, who both looked absolutely stunning.

You’ve certainly kept me and my little team busy this weekend! We also had the lovely Alice help us this weekend who fitted in brilliantly.

To every single one of you who chose us to be a small part of your special celebrations… thank you. We never take your support for granted, and we’re so grateful that you continue to trust us with your precious moments.

Now… time to pop my blue slippers on.
