So I had a slight disaster yesterday 😩
I always blow up my foils at least 24 hours before they’re due to be delivered. This is to check for any defects in the balloons as you do get dodgy ones sometimes. No problem with these ones 🤩
Foils are personalised the day before delivery, along with building the base, again to allow me to find if any balloons are defective. Spray with a bit of balloon shine and let it dry slightly before delivery day 🥳
Everything is tied & glued on the day of delivery 📦
Yesterday was perfect delivery weather - Not too hot, not too cold, no wind, no rain… off to a flying start!
Cushions in the back of the car, covered with a soft blanket. I then cover the balloons with another soft blanket… and off I go…
Beautiful driveway right in front of the door…perfect!
I always lift my balloons from the bottom outer latex, never the foils, as they don’t stretch, they tear!
Perfect delivery executed. Off I drive with a smile on my face & a spring in my step. Turn the music up, today’s going to be a good day! ☀️
10 minutes later the phone pings! One of the number balloons has popped 😩😩😩 My worse nightmare!
No fault of the customers! Balloons just have a mind of their own & have obviously been sent here to test me!
I spring into action… How long have I got? Just over an hour before the birthday boy arrives… Sh*t!
Laptop on, Cricut on, blower on… I don’t have any turquoise numbers left! But silver still matches the theme, Thank the lord! Recut the personalisation, blow up, w**d, stick, tie. What do I need to take with me? Scissors, tape, 260s, extra foils incase I pop those in the process of trying to fix it up. Back in the car…
Foot down… I now have 45 minutes to fix this 😩
Sweating & shaking at this point 🤣 which isn’t fun with a pair of scissors handling sensitive materials 🤣
Carefully cut off the old number balloons… never try & ‘unstick’ them, you’ll just make the situation 10 times worse!
Tie & stick everything back together with the new balloon numbers… it worked! 🥳🥳🥳 Panic over! Still with 20 minutes to go… Hooray! 🙌🏼
Happy customer, happy Kate 💃
But for anyone thinking, it’s just balloons… it’s not! Even with perfect conditions things can go wrong. Balloons are sensitive. It takes time, patience & nerves of steel and when things go wrong you need to be ready…
You know that old saying…Never work with kids or animals… or balloons! 🎈
