Paula Clements Celebrant

Paula Clements Celebrant Hello and welcome. Let me help you create a personalised ceremony of farewell to honour the life of your loved one. I am an independent celebrant. A theme?

I work throughout the Southeast of England including Surrey, Hampshire, West Sussex, and Berkshire. I am very happy to travel further afield. I trained with the International College of Professional Celebrants. The joy of being a celebrant is the freedom to write a unique ceremony for each couple or family. Whether you are a couple or a family I will work closely with you to understand your ideas,

wishes and aspirations for your ceremony. For weddings and other family celebrations the palette of choice to help you create your ceremony is vast. What can we include that tells your unique story? A ritual? A special reading? An unusual way of delivering the rings? Your celebration will have its own unique hallmark to create treasured memories. Whatever sort of ceremony you are holding I will work collaboratively with you throughout to help you achieve the ceremony that gives you what you want, structured, and delivered in the way you want.

Losing a grandparent might be the first time children are exposed to the death of someone close. When there are grandchildren, I always talk to the bereaved family about ways they could say goodbye to granny or grandad during the service that might help them say goodbye. Recently a six-year-old put his favourite teddy on his Gramp’s coffin to accompany him on his final journey. It was a beautiful, very touching moment.

Grief affects everyone differently. As a funeral celebrant, I am acutely aware that I meet the bereaved at the very start of the grieving process. The reality of their loss has barely sunk in and they are struggling to make sense of a whole range of emotions. I like this quote from Donna Ashworth because it highlights the strong link between love and grief.

Being a funeral celebrant is definitely not many people’s career of choice. For me it is one of the most rewarding things I have ever done. Here’s my story …

What an amazing person Dolly was. R.I.P

Good morning,

We know the news of Dolly Parton’s death has affected so many across the world, and even if we haven’t met someone we can be deeply affected by grief.

Collectively we can come together to know that others understand our feelings, which can be a comfort.

Sending everyone feeling sad today, all our love and support 🧡

Donna Ashworth 🧡

It is always a huge privilege when I go to meet the bereaved and listen to them telling me the life story of their loved one. Each story is different. I come across so many cases where people embraced Muhammad Ali ‘s outlook on life. For some it may have been in a grand way through travel and adventure, but many found contentment from their home life, family and friends.

Recently I had the privilege of leading a funeral service for G. She was a wonderful lady who loved spending time with her family and friends. Her favourite colour was yellow so as a personal tribute the immediate family wore buttonholes of a single yellow rose. Her sons and grandson carried her coffin into the chapel. In the midst of their grief that was such a hard thing to do. For them it was an important part of paying their respects and sending G on her final journey. Every funeral service is different. Each family finds their own way to pay tribute and honour their loved one.

There is far more to my job as a funeral celebrant than taking traditional funeral services. My job covers a broad spectrum of services from helping to pre-plan a funeral service to a ceremony to scatter ashes. In fact, it is the variety of the things I do, that make me love my job. Even a funeral service can be very contemporary. My touchstone, what I am passionate about is ensuring that every service or ceremony is a fitting farewell that truly reflects the life being honoured. Traditional or modern, my job is to help curate a meaningful, personal service that captures the character and personality of each person in a respectful way. How this is achieved varies. Different personal touches get layered together to culminate in every service or ceremony I lead. It is such a privilege and honour to be a funeral celebrant.

If the grounds at your local crematorium seem a bit too formal, a natural burial site might be the right choice for you to inter or scatter your loved ones ashes.
