Reed Hall is a stunning grade II listed building, a hidden treasure nestled in 300 acres of enchanting landscaped gardens in the grounds of the University of Exeter. Sympathetically refurbished in 2008, this Italianate mansion is a fine example of traditional architecture complemented by modernity – the perfect backdrop for any event. The elegant aesthetics of the house and its grounds, coupled wi

th first-class bespoke menus and a dedicated team of Event Co-ordinators make Reed Hall a unique setting for any occasion, from conferences, meetings and events to parties and weddings. One of Exeter's most popular Wedding Venues, we are licensed for Civil ceremonies and in 2010 and 2011 were named as Finalists in the Westcountry Wedding Awards (best venue - Exeter). In addition to our unique setting and beautiful grounds, Reed Hall has a dedicated team of chefs who prepare everything from light lunches to wedding breakfasts and gala dinners. Our creative catering team produce their imaginative menus using fresh West Country produce wherever possible.

It was a pleasure to welcome and host the British Academy Early Career Researcher Network – South-West & South Wales workshop at Reed Hall last week.

Co-led by the University of Exeter and Bath Spa University, the event brought together colleagues for a day of insightful discussion, collaboration and knowledge sharing in our elegant Woodbridge Room.

With its high ceilings, period features, abundant natural light and direct access to our beautiful grounds, the Woodbridge Room provided an inspiring setting for delegates to connect and exchange ideas.

Thank you to everyone who attended and contributed to such a successful event. We were delighted to be part of it and look forward to welcoming more academic and professional gatherings in the future.

Next time you’re in the grounds of Reed Hall, take a moment to pause at this natural time capsule🌲.

Planted in the mid-19th century this tree grew alongside the story of the University. The rings you see don’t just mark passing years, they trace key moments in the University’s history, including 1955, when the University of Exeter received its Royal Charter 👑.

It’s a beautiful reminder of how Reed Hall’s landscape and history are rooted together 🌿
