Set in the historic city of Exeter in the South West of England it’s a busy showroom/workshop where Sarah creates a range of beautiful wedding dresses, bridal and couture wear. Sarah Treble instinctively knows what’s going to suit her clients. Whether you have a clear idea of the type of dress you want or are looking for inspiration, Sarah will guide you through the process. From the comfort and privacy of her Devon design studio you can choose from her couture collection or discuss a bespoke dress design. The process, which begins with a consultation to discuss ideas, is friendly and fun. Try on samples and with Sarah’s help select a dress that suits both your personality as well as your body shape. Sarah Treble, a graduate of St Martins in London, has over 20 years of experience working as a fashion designer, including three seasons as head designer for Valentino in Italy, which instilled in her a love for haute couture. Sarah set up her bridal dress design studio in London in 1998 and returned to her native Devon in 2009. I’m on holiday at the moment, which is lovely after a manically busy summer. It gives me time to sit and think about designs I want to work on when I get back to the studio. Like this one, that I started before the summer rush.
It will be a time consuming project. All these individual antique lace motifs have to be carefully positioned and hand sewn onto the tulle base of the bodice. The skirt will be multiple layers of tulle and organza, echoing the sepia tones of the lace.

Some lovely shots of Milla on her wedding day a few weeks ago.
Milla chose a sample from my Couture Collection. It was one of my earliest (and favourite) designs.
I carefully restored it with and with a few minor alterations it fitted Milla as if it was made for her.
She looked so beautiful in it and I loved the fact this particular dress, finally had its wedding day ☺️. More photos to follow of the process…

“Raschel” from the Couture Collection is very popular at the moment. Here shown using Raschel lace, (hence the name) which is an economical, machine made lace. But I like its fresh, contemporary look. Some brides choose Chantilly lace which is much more luxurious and looks beautiful too. The underlayer is in oyster pink silk satin…again the colour is completely customisable.
The belt clasp on the sample is antique Art Deco. Obviously this is totally unique. But this area presents the ideal opportunity to use something individual to you. Perhaps a brooch or clasp that’s been in your family for generations. Or maybe just a little piece you found at a flea market.
I love it when clients choose a design from the Couture Collection and with minimal customisation, make it totally theirs.
