A shell paint palette, layered with soft, milky pigment, completely indulgent but inspiring to my creative brain. It helps me feel organised, but whimsical.

And then… the reality.

When it comes to painting on silk, nothing beats these slightly naf children’s brushes. They hold just the right amount of paint, glide without resistance, and give a texture by pushing the paint around in a way you can’t quite engineer with anything more refined.

A reminder that in couture, the magic isn’t always in the most beautiful tool, but in the one that does the job perfectly.

A swatch, left quietly on the table, soft tulle embroidered with light-catching glass beads. Katie was immediately drawn to it, and in that moment the dress began to take shape.

We leaned into its delicacy, building a silhouette around the fabric. Vintage-inspired sculptural sleeves to frame the body, then layers of silk petals and tulle flowers hand applied, with extra texture on the hem and the cuffs.

There’s something very particular about designing this way -the result feels less like a design decision, and more like something discovered.

A wedding dress at Golden hour, seen through the eyes of the bride who usually stands behind the lens.

I first met EmmyLou while creating a bespoke gown for a shared bridal client—she was the photographer, quietly shaping the atmosphere with her instinct for light and emotion. Even then, her work felt unmistakable: soft, intentional, full of personality.

So when it became her turn to be the bride, it felt only right that the dress and the moment echoed that same signature.
Her love of early evening light.
Her iconic veil portraits.
That balance of artistry and ease.

This gown was designed to move within that world. Emmylou and I designed a dress to fit her vision as a photographer and how it would work within her art, the colour, the cut and the fabric. Fluid silk satin with a softly structured bodice and draped neckline, falling into a weightless skirt that catches the light as it shifts. Layered with a sheer veil edged in delicate lace, diffusing the sun into something almost painterly.

Always choose to have fun in your wedding dress.

Silk moiré, cut with a dropped waist and softened hip panniers, gives the gown its quiet sense of structure, while gathered panels release into movement. Regal in construction, but intentionally undone and laidback. Designed for wandering.

A modern interpretation of Audrey Hepburn

For the rehearsal dinner, this bespoke look was designed to feel playful yet elegant. A bright pink statement in sculpted organza, shaped into a soft tulip form that holds structure while remaining light. The neckline is finished with pink glass beading, catching the light with a subtle shimmer, and a polka dot tulle underlayer adds depth and a sense of curiosity beneath the surface.

At the back, a loose bow forms an effortless bustle, leading into a train scattered with silk flowers - a detail that feels both romantic and slightly undone, as though it’s been gathered in the moment.

This bespoke pool party co-ord was created from the bride’s own watercolour artworks printed onto silk organza.

The silhouette is light and playful - structured crop top with gentle puff sleeves, paired with a low, dropped waist skirt that skims and floats.
At the neckline, a corsage formed from hand cut printed petals — lifting details directly from the artwork and placing them back onto the body in three dimensions.

Golden ivory satin, draped by hand. The grain of the fabric leads the design, folds falling into a soft cowl, a sculpted waist, and a skirt that moves fluidly. In motion, it catches the light like poured gold; at rest, it settles into something almost classical.

Each drape entirely unique to the bride, the fabric dictating of the fabric will bend around the figure.

The Rehearsal Dinner dress.

Organza is a rare material that holds both structure and movement. Sculpted into sheer, voluminous shapes, the woven stiffness gives lift and architecture, yet remains weightless.

A breeze ripples the fabric, folding and bending the skirt layers before returning to its original form.

A rehearsal dress created for bride using printed fabrics of a Katie’s own watercolour design.
