𝗕𝘂𝗴𝗴𝗲𝗱 𝗯𝘆 𝗳𝗹𝗶𝗲𝘀? 🪰 🪰 🪰 Did you know that biting insects are attracted to sugar? This includes horses with high blood sugar levels.

Check your horse's diet for sugar levels and scrutinise ingredients lists. Molasses is believed to make the blood sweeter (and tastier to biting insects).

It is also worth considering the sugar levels in your grass. During daylight hours, grasses make and store sugars as they photosynthesize. As sugar levels are lower overnight, night time grazing will be preferable to day time grazing.

By contrast, Traditional Brewers' Yeast is believed to make the blood taste bitter and so off putting to biting insects. This ingredient can be found in many of our blends and balancers, but is also available as a straight - you'll find it on the website.

If your horse is affected by flies, Instant Linseed (a valuable source of omega 3) can also be included to the diet for soothing support.
