Thinking about getting married at Elmore? Come and see it for yourself.

A photograph can show you the rooms. A website can tell you what’s included. But neither quite gives you the feeling of walking through the house, seeing the gardens, stepping into the Gillyflower and starting to imagine your people here, on your day.

So we’ve put together a little virtual viewing of the main spaces, to give you a taste of what you’ll experience when you come to see us.

In these two minutes, we give you a quick rundown of how a single-day wedding at Elmore could look, from the ceremony through to dinner and dancing. But we’re also working on some rather exciting plans for multi-day celebrations, and we can’t wait to share more on that front very soon.

The party doesn’t have to start in the Gillyflower. And it certainly doesn’t have to end there…

If you’re choosing to spend your drinks reception within Elmore’s walls, the Drawing Room is rather a lovely place to do it.

For winter weddings particularly, the Drawing Room is often where it all begins. Fires roaring, drinks flowing and everyone gathering in one of the house’s cosiest rooms before heading through to dinner and the Gillyflower.

And when the music eventually stops there, the night doesn’t have to end.

For resident guests, the Drawing Room bar comes alive again, giving you somewhere to carry on with a drink, a chat and perhaps one last song. There’s no set closing time. The bar closes when you decide you’re ready for bed.

We’re not saying that you should stay up until breakfast but if you did, you wouldn’t be the first…

So perhaps the question is - might you be the people to do it again?

They didn’t just have a wedding. They threw a weekend-long party.

Lucy and Jack got married at Elmore back in May… And then they kept the party going.

Saturday was the wedding. A gorgeous pastel spring/summer colour palette, music running all day, dinner, dancing and overnight glamping on the Gillyflower Meadow.

Then Sunday became an event in it’s own right.

Wild swimming and a sauna at Madam’s Pond. Drinks and a BBQ in the Walled Garden complete with a live sax player. Mini golf and cricket on the front lawn. And enough rosé and Aperol to keep everyone well and truly hydrated.

And when everyone should probably have gone to bed?

Karaoke.

It was relaxed, gloriously sociable and completely unhurried - a wedding that wasn’t really about squeezing everything into one perfect day, but about having enough time to actually enjoy being together.

And honestly, we’re struggling to think of a better way to spend a bank holiday May weekend.

Perhaps we should talk about rain on your wedding day...

After weeks of sunshine, heat and very little rain, the biblical weather we’ve had recently has certainly reminded us that you can’t always control the forecast.

And if you’re getting married, that can feel like a big deal.

But rain on your wedding day has a surprisingly long history of being considered a good omen. In some traditions, rain represents fertility, renewal and a long-lasting marriage.

And then there’s the slightly more unusual British tradition of burying a sausage before your wedding to try and keep the rain away (please note that the sausages featured are best enjoyed eaten, rather than buried).

There are practical considerations too.

Rain might mean bringing some of your flowers and styling inside rather than spreading them throughout the gardens. But that isn’t necessarily a bad thing. It can create a completely different atmosphere, bringing everyone closer together and allowing the house itself to become more of a backdrop to the day.

And let’s be honest, some of the most atmospheric wedding photographs happen when the weather doesn’t quite behave.

So if you’re worrying about rain, perhaps don’t think of it as ruining Plan A. Think of it as giving you a slightly different version of it.

Your wedding guestbook doesn’t have to spend the rest of its life in a drawer.

There was a time when a wedding guestbook meant a beautiful book on a table, a pen beside it and a collection of handwritten messages to read through once you got home.
And while there’s absolutely nothing wrong with that, guestbooks have become a little more imaginative.

We’re seeing couples find new ways to capture the people who were there - Polaroid photographs with handwritten notes, audio guestbooks, illustrated guest portraits, postcards, recipe cards and little messages that can eventually become part of the home.

Some are funny. Some are thoughtful. Some are probably best kept between the couple and the person who wrote them.

The lovely thing about a guestbook is that it doesn’t need to be another piece of wedding décor. It can be a way of capturing the people, personalities and slightly chaotic moments that made the day yours.

Because years from now, you might not remember exactly what the table looked like, but you’ll want to remember who was sitting around it.

If you could ban ONE wedding tradition, what would it be?

After 13years of weddings, we’ve seen a lot of traditions come and go.

Some have become classics for a reason. Others... perhaps it’s time we admitted we were only doing them because someone once told us that we should.

The bouquet toss.
The receiving line.
The cake cutting.
The first dance.
The speeches.
The favours.
The formal photographs that take everyone away from the party for an hour.

We’re not saying any of them are bad. In fact, we’ve seen every one of them done brilliantly.

But weddings are changing. Couples are questioning the assumed running order, choosing what genuinely matters to them and leaving the rest behind. That shift towards more intentional, personal celebrations is one of the clearest themes we’re seeing in weddings now.

So we’re curious.

If you could remove ONE wedding tradition forever, what would it be?

Can we talk about wedding favours?

We have a theory.

Wedding favours started with the best of intentions. A little something to thank your guests for celebrating with you.

And then, somewhere along the way, they became tiny bottles, personalised trinkets and objects that looked lovely on the table but had nowhere to go once everyone got home.

So perhaps the question isn’t “What wedding favour should we buy?” It’s “Do we need one at all?”

If you love the idea, make it something people will actually enjoy - a local edible treat, something made by a favourite supplier, a bottle to take home, seeds to plant or even a donation to something meaningful to you.

Or don’t have one.

Your guests have already travelled, bought an outfit, arranged childcare, taken time off work and turned up to celebrate with you.

Their favour can simply be a ruddy good party, and we happen to be just the place for that…

Once upon a time, every wedding speech followed the same script.

There was a time when the wedding speeches followed a fairly predictable script.
Father of the bride. Groom. Best man.

Three speeches. Three people. Roughly the same order, give or take.

But weddings have changed, and we’re seeing couples rethink the parts of the day that once felt non-negotiable. Speeches are no exception.

We’ve seen joint speeches, friends taking the microphone, parents sharing the honour, couples speaking together and yes, couples deciding they don’t want speeches at all.

And we’re increasingly seeing something else - shorter speeches that say more. Because nobody needs 35 minutes of stories that should probably have stayed in the WhatsApp group.

The best speeches aren’t necessarily the funniest or the longest. They’re the ones where you can feel that the person speaking actually means every word.

So if you’re planning your wedding and staring at the traditional running order wondering whether you really have to do it that way...

You don’t.

An unpopular wedding opinion: not everything needs to photograph “well”

We’re a wedding venue. We spend an awful lot of time looking at beautiful wedding photographs.

But here’s something we’ve learnt after years of watching celebrations unfold - the things that make a wedding brilliant aren’t always the things that make the best photograph.

The table might look incredible, but what you’ll remember is the conversation and the laughs that happened around it.

The Drawing Room might barely feature in your gallery, but it might be where your dad finally let go of his emotions, and allowed a few tears to fall after holding it all together throughout the ceremony.

The best part of dinner probably won’t make it onto Instagram at all.

And that slightly chaotic moment when everyone ended up dancing before the DJ had even properly started? That probably tells more stories than another perfectly composed photograph.

We’re not suggesting you stop caring about how your wedding looks - far from it. Beautiful surroundings, brilliant photography and thoughtful design absolutely have their place.

We’re just wondering if it’s worth considering, not letting the photograph become more important than the thing you’re photographing…

We’ve watched wedding cake trends change quite a bit over the years…

When we first started working in weddings, naked cakes were everywhere - often finished with fresh berries, seasonal flowers and sitting proudly on a beautiful wooden cake stand.

Then came elegant fondant, delicate sugar flowers, minimalist designs and beautifully simple buttercream.

And now we’re seeing something of a nostalgic turn. Vintage piping, Lambeth-style decoration, bows, ruffles, cherries and plenty of colour are all making their way back onto wedding cakes, alongside more sculptural and playful designs.

It’s a lovely reminder of how much wedding style changes over time. What feels quintessentially now will eventually become the wedding cake of a particular era, just as the naked cakes of the early days now transport us straight back to a certain moment in wedding history.

And that’s the fun of it.

There isn’t really a “right” wedding cake. Whether yours is understated and elegant, overflowing with flowers or covered in intricate piping, it’s another little opportunity to bring your personalities and the feeling of your day to the table.

We can’t wait to see what comes next.
