As we step into this festive season, I want to pause and congratulate Melanie & Ian on their first wedding anniversary! Their beautiful winter wedding last year was the perfect blend of elegance and Christmas magic. From Prestonfield, where Mel got ready, to the breathtaking Borthwick Castle where they celebrated with their loved ones, everything was styled with such warmth, charm, and timeless taste.

It’s been a very busy end to the season, but we’ll be catching up on our social media in the upcoming weeks — promise!

This weekend, we’re excited to share the beautiful moments of L & A, who tied the knot in October on the most stunningly golden autumn day. Their morning preparations and reception took place at the elegant Virgin Hotels Edinburgh, while their emotional, intimate ceremony unfolded inside the breathtaking Edinburgh City Chambers Events

With guests traveling all the way from Canada to join their Scottish family, this celebration was filled with warm smiles, tight hugs, gentle touches, and just the right amount of cheering throughout.

🍂 Autumnal Engagement & Mini Sessions 🍂

⚠️ Warning: Long post!
Super useful for anyone planning an engagement, proposal, mini session, or family session with us — packed with helpful tips! 💛

This weekend we'll be extra busy with a few beautiful engagement and mini sessions! There are still a few wonderful couples in the pipeline for their engagement shoots before their big day next year.

If you already have an engagement session included in your package, make sure your date is secured soon!
If you’d like to add one to your package — this is your sign. ✨

Please note there’s no December availability left from 10 December — all sessions must be completed by the end of November or very early December at the latest.

With the weather changing but the sun still gracing us with those glorious golden tones, I thought I’d share a few tips and inspiration photos from sessions taken in late October and November.

☀️ If we get a sunny day, it will be magical!
🌧️ If there’s a little drizzle, don’t worry — we’ll make it work! Expect smiles, laughter, and plenty of relaxed chats (and some wedding talk, of course!).

Now, let’s talk outfits:
✨ Layers are your best friend! It may look warm, but our favourite photo spots are often open spaces or hills where it can get breezy.
👗 Dresses look fabulous, and cosy sweaters, wool jumpers, chinos or jeans and a shirt + jumper combo always photograph beautifully.
💍 Feeling glam? Absolutely go for it — just don’t forget your coat, shawl, or fabulous fur to stay warm.

Most of all, come comfortable, come as yourselves, and bring your smiles, your love, and of course, that engagement ring! 💛

Gorgeously sunny, intimate wedding at The Bonham last weekend.
Karen and Martin chose this beautiful location for their wedding. They celebrated their love with their daughters as witnesses and a small group of their closest family and friends.

A wonderful occasion to witness and capture, a day that perfectly reflected who they are as a couple: warm, genuine, and full of radiant joy.

Happy Anniversary to Charly and Marina! 💛

Imagine getting married on the most wonderful, sunny, and colourful autumn day… October and November light truly must be my favourite! It was Charly and Marina’s favourite season too. 🍂

They travelled all the way from France to Scotland after seeing a documentary about the stunning Carberry Tower and instantly knew it would be the perfect place to begin their new chapter together. Their ceremony took place in the beautifully lit Music Room at Carberry Tower, followed by an afternoon adventure through the heart of Edinburgh — Victoria Street, Grassmarket, Calton Hill… you name it, we were there!

A beautiful, intimate, golden day and one I’ll always remember with so much joy. ✨

"My husband and I got married at Carberry Tower last October and are absolutely thrilled with Iris Art Photography's work!

They were on Carberry Tower's suggested list of suppliers and after admiring their pictures on their website, we hired them for our big day. Prior to the wedding, our photographer Justina took the time to listen to what we were looking for in terms of type of pictures - more casual than traditional while still making sure everyone was included.

Justina had already worked at Carberry Tower so she was able to advise us very well on the best spots to take pictures. For example, my husband and I were thinking of taking pictures on the castle's grand staircase but Justina told us straight away this wasn't a great idea as that area was incredibly dark, even during the day. She suggested a number of other spots, to confirm on the day depending on the weather and light.

On our wedding day, Justina did a wonderful job. She was on every front while still being discreet, asking us our opinions on certain poses or areas but also offering us her professional expertise. We were lucky as the day was sunny with beautiful light and Justina knew exactly how to make the most of it. The resulting pictures are absolutely breathtaking, not only loved and admired by ourselves but also by our family and friends.

Edinburgh City Chambers and the Virgin Hotel on Victoria Street -what a perfect combo for an intimate wedding like the one we had last week!

L&A and their wonderful Scottish–Canadian gathering met in the heart of Edinburgh to celebrate their love and begin a new chapter together. A beautifully sunny day and the most incredible autumnal colours of the Scottish season created the perfect backdrop for their celebration.

Raw, candid moments, kisses and cuddles -what a perfect day it was! 💛

Sharing a glimpse from Aubree’s unforgettable senior session in Edinburgh 🥰

All the way from Texas, Aubree came to Scotland with her family to celebrate this incredible milestone - the end of one chapter and the exciting beginning of another. We wandered through Edinburgh’s most iconic streets, beautiful hidden corners, and timeless views, capturing not only her radiant smile but the spirit of this moment in her life.

Senior sessions like this are truly special - a celebration of growth, dreams, and the beautiful anticipation of what’s next. Aubree brought so much warmth, confidence, and joy into every photograph, making this experience one to remember.

I wish we had more senior sessions here in Scotland - they’re such a heartfelt way to honour this important transition and to create memories that will be cherished for years to come.
