Grey hair.

Why does hair turn grey ?
There are tiny cells that live in your follicle. These tiny cells are called melanocytes. These melanocytes are what’s responsible for your hairs colour when it being produced. As you get older these cells slow down and eventually die. There is a reserve called melanocytes stem cells and they normally refresh you pigment producing cells. When these stem cells run out new hair grows out colourless - looking silver, grey or white.

What causes grey hair?
Your family history is the biggest factor in when and how fast you go grey.
Natural ageing causes pigment cells to loose function over time.
Chronic Stress because the bodies fight or flight response releases a chemical called norepinephrine, which can damage or deplete pigment stems in the follicle.
Damage from free radicals - fuelled by smoking , pollution and UV rays accelerate the breakdown of pigment cells.
Low levels of essential nutrients like vitamin B12 , iron or copper can trigger premature greying.
Medical conditions like autoimmune and thyroid disorders such as vitiligo, alopecia areata or thyroid disease can interfere with hair colour.

Many SLES free cosmetic products lack foam. SLES is typically a chemical soap ingredient that enable the foaming cleanse associated with cleanings cosmetics. But these can be harsh on the skin and indeed the hair.

SLES is shortened for sodium laureth ether sulfate and is a cost effective cleansing agent. SLS (sodium lauryl sulfate) goes through ethoxylation (where the fatty alcohol is loaded into a reactor and heated with the presence of an alkaline catalyst like potassium hydroxide and ethylene oxide gas is slowly introduced). This is the process that produces SLES. This process can create a byproduct called 1,4-dioxin which is classified as a potential human carcinogen.

Our foaming agent is derived from coconut and is a very mild, non ionic surfactant created by synergistic reaction of the natural plant based alcohols and fruit sugars. It generates a soft, smooth and highly stable foam that feels creamy and luxurious as seen below.

There are no cleaning agents used in our first initial sanitisation process this is purely the foam created from the minimal shampoo (nothing pourable) left on the bottles internal surface.

Can you prove your brand endeavours to do good for the planet?

Yes. We encourage all our clients who use any of our products to bring back their empty bottles & jars.

In return they receive a 5% discount.

Why don’t you have refill stations?

Refill stations is a bacteria’s dream unless they’re not used by everyone. Refill stations require deep cleaning which usually involves a product that will effect that microbe and bacteria production and well our products are known to be as natural and clean as possible. When we get products tested it’s the ingredients of the product that are monitored not only for safe use but also bacterial and microbial growths which can be harmful. So the short answer is simply because fresh batching and sanitary packaging is always best. This is standard GMP conditions.

So how does discount work?
You simply bring your empty packaging to our Headquarters at MissionHair 65 Bread Street and take your chosen product off the shelf. Because you have returned the old packaging we will add your discount at the end.

Should we rinse them.
No you don’t have to. We have a strict sanitisation protocol we follow so there is no point.

The first step of sanitisation and proof we reuse our packaging.
If clients don’t bring bottles back they are being reused at their home.

Why does scalp health matter?

When we talk about the scalp as hair professionals we are talking about the tissue underneath what you see externally. That tissue is home to everything your hair needs from actually forming the hair strand to its condition and lifespan. When the protective skin barrier or hair changes it’s normally down to imbalance within the scalp. When scalp care is part of your routine it minimises major changes in growth, condition & natural hair fall. Many things can disrupt the balance of your scalp from normal monthly cycles to stress.
