Welcome to the Edinburgh Napier University Techno Society FB page. The society has been founded just this year and we are here to unite all techno fans at Napier. Whether you are seeking the best nightlife and social scene for your time in Edinburgh, or you simply love techno, then we invite you to join us for this year. This society specialises in techno and other electro music events, which includes gigs and raves in the underground scene. As a member, you will also have exclusive access to our parties and you'll be receiving discounted entry to the main techno venues in Edinburgh. We also plan to organise our own gigs in Edinburgh later in the year! Above all, this society will function as a great social platform for you as our members. Joining us means you will meet new people, keep up to date with what's happening in Edinburgh and have a whole lot of fun! You may also use the group to invite fellow members to your own events/nights out. We have big plans for this year, so join us for some unforgettable memories!

NUTS MIX COMPETITION 🎧

We’re taking over the bar room at The Mash House when Untitled x 2ndface x Noctrnl bring DJ Plant Texture to Edinburgh on Friday the 25th of September. We’re on the lookout for some new faces to get involved and are giving one DJ the chance to open the room.

Mixes will be judged on track selection, mixing ability, and how well you play to the environment. As this is an opening set in the bar room we’re looking for house, disco and similar sounds. Think proper warmup energy, setting the tone and building the room rather than going straight for the peak time stuff.

SEPTEMBER SCHEDULE 26/27

The start of the new academic year is upon us, In classic NUTS fashion we have multiple events to carry you through the month.

4 Events, 4 Venues

Here’s where we will be :

Tuesday 8th September - Freshers Fair at The Corn Exchange

Friday 11th September - In the early evening we will be going on a pub crawl around Cowgate, after this will be the NUTS 10th Birthday La Belle

17th September - We will be at People’s Leisure Club for ELEMENTS Freshers event.

Wednesday 23rd September - HW DJ Society vs NUTS CabVol Cafe

Friday 25th September - We have been invited for a bar takeover at Mash House for Untitled x 2nd Face x Noctrnl Presents DJ Plant Texture .

📣 COMMITTEE ANNOUNCEMENT 📣

New year, new committee, same NUTS energy ⚡️ 🥜

It’s that time of year again that we announce our new committee members for 2026/27. Some faces you may recognise from the previous year and we also have some new people joining us!

Meet the team that will be helping make this year bigger and better than ever before. From planning events to supporting our DJs, this team will be working hard behind the scenes to keep everything running smoothly (hopefully)

Rudi Montgomery (RuDi)

4th Year Business with Marketing student, DJ, and 4-year NUTS Committee veteran. This will be my second year as President, so I’m clearly doing something right… or they just haven’t found anyone else yet.

After four years on committee, I’m looking forward to another year of great events, good music and plenty of NUTS memories. Hopefully we can make this year the best one yet — and keep everything running smoothly along the way.

Looking forward to working with everyone and seeing what we can get up to this year.

Douglas Norton (OFFGRID)

The vertically challenged half of Halfcut, OFFGRID is back. This year his wee legs are taking the big step up to Vice President.

A 4th year Sport & Exercise Science student, and the less lazy boss of Douglas Norton. This handsome chap has a diverse sound suitable of rocking the room on any occasion.

He may also have mentioned once or twice that he’s learning vinyl, something we hopefully don’t get the chance to ever hear.

Cara Hegarty

Cara takes on the role of Social Media Manager this year as you can always catch her with a ring light and her camera out.

Cara is a 3rd year Psychology student who has been with NUTS since her first year at uni. You may have seen this face over the past few months as she’s been gaining quite the reputation in the music scene for her house and dance classic song selections.

We’re putting our trust in her for our socials, hoping she won’t whip out any tiktok dances

NUTS bring back their annual Freshers energy for a special 10th anniversary edition. A decade of late nights, big tunes, questionable decisions and some of the best memories the society has had to offer.

To mark ten years of NUTS, we’re bringing together a lineup that represents the past, present and future of the society for a proper celebration behind the decks. Expect a high-energy night moving through house, disco, trance and techno to keep the dancefloor moving.

Next up, we have If you know NUTS, this should be a familiar name. One of our long-standing resident DJs, VEITCHY is no stranger behind the decks. From his early NUTS days to now, he's consistently delivered the goods, blending genres and grooves with ease and guaranteeing a proper two-step from start to finish. 🕺

ARTIST INTRODUCTION: VAN DAMN

Van Damn has been a central figure in Scotland’s underground scene for over a decade. He is the founder of the influential good. which has hosted and supported some of the most respected names in global dance music, including Skream, Patrick Topping, Peggy Gou, Groove Armada and Ewan Mcvicar.

As a DJ, over the last decade he has consistently played across the countries most iconic venues such as Sub Club and Sneaky Pete’s , this has led him to play some of the UKs biggest festivals and above that more recently has made his Ibiza debut playing on the lineup at Hannah Laing’s residency at Hi Ibiza and also playing on Ewan Mcvicar and Ben Hemsley’s residency at Amnesia.

When it comes to production, Van Damn has built a strong and ongoing partnership with Fat Boy Slim’s Southern Fried Records, he has released multiple records on the label which have made their way to BBC Radio 1.
