One of the reasons I love this job is finding ways to use the surroundings to create little storytelling moments with my couples.
You’ve just booked your dream Scottish fairytale wedding venue. Somewhere beautiful, somewhere steeped in history, and somewhere where countless couples have celebrated before you.
Combine this with Jenna being a literary scholar, I’m thinking, how are we going to make the most of it?
Take Carberry Tower, for example. A place with centuries of history, famously associated with Mary, Queen of Scots and the dramatic events that unfolded here in 1567.
For couples getting married somewhere like this, I’m always thinking about how we can use both the interiors and the grounds to create something that celebrates both you and the history of venue.
Sometimes that means stepping into the landscape and having a little fun with it. Trying something unexpected in an old library. Playing with a bit of roleplay. Experimenting with the light, the surroundings and the time we have together.
Because wedding photography is a balance.
It’s about making sure you get plenty of time with the people you’ve invited to celebrate with you, while also creating space for the two of you to actually be together.
My aim is for your photography to feel fun, collaborative and completely part of the experience of your wedding day.
Not something that takes you away from the day, but something that gives you a chance to pause, have fun, explore, make memories together and create photographs that bring you right back to how it felt.
