Delighted to be back in my duel role of exhibitor and brand/event photographer at the next in a couple of weekends.

Scottish Wedding Unconvention

Old Fruitmarket, Glasgow

* Featuring 52 incredible independent wedding suppliers across two floors.

* Plus Sip & Paint workshop from 12:00 on the day of the show (very fun, I’ll post photographic evidence of folks losing their s**t at each others efforts at the last one in my next rant about it all)

* And live music performances throughout the day, with set times and locations being announced next week.

September was 2 Art Walk Weekends followed by a handful of fun brand shoots, a couple of wee adventures, a very long torturous tech meltdown, a week of the flu and lots of rest at home.

October is my last wedding job of the year and a few wee shoots, school holidays, starting work on branding with the wonderful Sarah Robertson ~ Writer, Mentor, Designer and desperately needing to go turbo on a bunch of things before I lose my mind…more about that later x

Before I fall asleep to wake up at 10pm totally confused, let me say a massive THANK YOU to everyone who came along to my art house. It’s such a rewarding and unique experience, thanks for having me again

Apologies to those who came this afternoon after I lost the ability to make words come out of my mouth.

I’ll be adding the work that’s left to my online store soon-ish…naps now tho.

A few of my favourite installation & video pieces from previous years. ⁠

From the first year I took part, I painted my bedroom floor to ceiling in bright red and showed some self portraiture photography, poetry and installation pieces, including the NOW metronome from my NOW LOVE solo exhibition earlier that year and I turned some of the self portraits into record sleeves. (a mix of work from 2023/24)⁠

Last year, I made a wooden arcade machine with Ailsa Lochhead (Ailsa Lochhead & built for us by Old School Fabrications) to show a video installation for the Arcade commissions, celebrating the beach and Portobello with a rich showground history.⁠

I don't have any video work in this year's art house but I've also not got a metronome click every second for 8 hours a day so there's that.⁠

On this weekend...Art House 12⁠

You might have seen some of this series Out of the Blue Drill Hall at our residents' group exhibition, Cellular, a few months back and I sold a couple of pieces last weekend but there's still a wee story to tell.⁠
⁠
I love that there's a plant that we call Honesty (although in the USA it's known as silver dollars and it's really named Lunaria). I thought it would make sense for it to have words on it. So I stole some from my neighbours garden and made a collage cut up of a poem from my NOW LOVE solo exhibition a couple of years back. ⁠
⁠
And then played with different representations of the honesty - there's a couple of different cyanotypes - a framed print of a digital negative and just the plant laid directly onto the chemistry (which is in a frame I found near a train station on the way to a gig one time and painted blue, true story) - and a collage of the vase still available. ⁠
⁠
It's been fun watching people wondering why the plant has a prime spot then noticing the words on the seed pods. It's a fiddly thing to work with but it's nearly the season for a whole new bunch of it to steal...⁠

Working on helping design a very special day for a couple for next year today as I finish up edits on the last elopement I shot. It's such a privilege to throw a bunch of ideas into the internet at a couple many hours away and see if something sparks a wee bit of excitement and feels like it tells a little of their story.⁠
⁠
I love working on elopement days and tiny weddings. I work with a lot of camera shy and neurodivergent couples and sometimes a smaller celebration with less pressure and less attention over the day in cosy wee spots is just the ticket. Take your nearest and dearest on a date and bring them into the ways that you like to share your time with a neighbourhood ceremony day. A great way to also support lots of local indie businesses.⁠

Here's a wee peek at some collage work featured in this year's house. Mostly flower vases inspired by Matisse cut outs and made with a mix of vintage papers, cyanotype, photocopied pages of flower books and a couple of arms.⁠

There's a series of 8 small works on paper and a couple of framed A3 fellas.⁠
⁠
Cheers to everyone who has showed up so far and especially to those who've already visited a couple of times with new folks or bought work. MUCH appreciated. The Art Walk is always a galvanising (and knackering) experience x
