It has been almost 1 year since Rhianna & Steven’s wedding at Gilmerton House. It was a boldly romantic affair, blending classical elegance with contemporary touches throughout 🩶

Planning across completely opposite time zones added an extra layer of complexity — but the result was a day that felt effortless, deeply personal, and entirely theirs.

Charlotte’s stunning photography captured it all with rich, honest, heartfelt glamour — the kind of images that feel as alive now as they did on the day.

S&B Simplified: Power Hour. A one-off therapy session — but for your wedding.

Sometimes you just need to get it all out — the family politics, the last-minute worries, the “is this a terrible idea?” moments. Other times, it’s about sanity-checking your plans, designing a realistic timeline, figuring out your next steps, or getting clear answers to practical questions you’ve been circling for weeks.
In a Power Hour, we combine a decade of wedding planning expertise with a sounding board you can trust — so you leave emPowered (see what I did there? 🤭) with a newfound sense of clarity, confidence, and a plan you actually feel good about.
Available as a stand-alone service or an add-on to Kick-Starter or Roadmap.

2025 has — unusually for S&B — been a marquee year. And what better way to start than Amy & Graeme’s wedding at Winton Castle back in April.
We love the elegance and flexibility of a sailcloth marquee (or Sperry tent — or as one client recently put it, “one of those Harry Potter wedding tents”). The canvas glows in the sun and by candlelight, offering a soft, elegant blank slate to design your wedding on. Yes, they come with planning and logistical considerations you wouldn’t encounter in a traditional venue, but the payoff is so often more than worth it.

Thank you to the amazing Special Events Tipi for your beautiful structures, Wonderful & Strange for the stunning images (I can’t wait to share more!) and all the incredible suppliers for this wedding. It was a dream team.

Not every couple needs full-service planning — but that doesn’t mean you should go it alone.

We designed our Simplified services to give hands-on couples structure, tools, and expert input — so you can stay in control, feel more confident, and reduce stress along the way.

Here’s how we can support you, wherever you are in the process:
Power Hour → A focused consultation to untangle questions and get unstuck
Kick-Starter → A planning call plus checklist, budget, and supplier guidance to get you going
Wedding Roadmap → Ongoing support, planning tools, and check-ins as your wedding takes shape

Curious to know more? I’d love to hear from you.

“What does a wedding planner actually do?”

For Katy & Neil, it meant coordinating a weekend full of surprises — from fireworks to acrobats — while keeping the whole experience joyful, relaxed, and guest-focused.

We helped plan their welcome drinks, managed the flow of a packed wedding day (with everything from pipers and coffee carts to a surprise drumming group), and wrapped it all with a rooftop brunch (with acrobats!) the morning after. Behind the colour and energy was a carefully timed plan — so that everything felt effortless for them, and unforgettable for their guests.

It was such a joy to plan for two of the kindest people I’ve met — and to help shape a celebration that was completely and unmistakably them. I’m even happier that we’re still in touch.

It’s been a while since I posted here — but I’ve spent the year quietly working on some wonderfully special weddings. Thank you to my colleagues who have shared glimpses of these weddings with me through collaborated posts!

Melissa & Jack’s day was one of the most recent: a beautiful June celebration in East Lothian filled with elegance, warmth, and considered details. I’ll be sharing more glimpses over the coming weeks, alongside thoughts on what thoughtful planning really looks like — and how we support couples who want calm, clarity, and a little backup along the way.

Over the last few years, we’ve naturally found ourselves drawn to a certain kind of celebration — thoughtful, considered, deeply personal (and of course beautiful with great food!). It’s always been part of what we do, but more and more it’s become the focus of our work. I’m excited to share more of these in the coming weeks!

New Website! 🌐
Exciting news! I’ve hinted at some changes in our services, and I’m thrilled to announce that all these updates are now showcased on our brand new website! This is a little snippet of what you can expect from the gorgeous visuals.

Our core branding remains, but thanks to the incredibly talented Julia Loyd, it truly reflects the style of work we are now doing. Julia, a former client, perfectly captured our vision, making the website resonate with our current style, our amazing couples, and the new direction of Scarlett & Bell.
I’m over the moon with the result and delighted to share it with you all! Head to stories to see a scroll through some of our pages…

Developments! I know I am not the only one wondering where the last 7 months have gone (at least summer has finally decided to join us), but here we are, in the last days of July. I have my annual period of back-to-back weddings starting this week, and so another excuse to avoid social media! However, there have been lots of changes at Scarlett & Bell, so I am pulling my finger out to start sharing… In the coming weeks I am excited to share details of the new direction I (Mercedes) am taking S&B in, that I have been developing for the last 9 months. We have said goodbye to services that are no longer sustainable, created new ones to reach and help more couples, and that allow us to work with other businesses in all sorts of ways. Stay tuned…

Well it’s January, which means booking season! We (suppliers) are always met by a lovely fresh flood of enquiries to kick-start the new year. And I often hear so many of the same questions. So, I’ve put together a little blog post (link in bio) to make some submissions a little easier on the newly-engaged, a guide to what suppliers are actually referring to when they ask what your wedding budget is. To double down, I’ve included some price ranges reflecting what our S&B clients typically spend in some of these areas. I know there is very contradictory figures out there, and these are not a reflection of the entire Scottish wedding industry, only the weddings you’ll see on this grid and on our website.

I hope it helps someone! And feel free to drop a comment or DM if you have any questions!

Merry Christmas dear friends ❤️ In celebration of my favourite time of year, I share with you some of my favourite people who have yet to appear on this grid.
They are a very special couple, who I weathered the pandemic with, became extremely good friends with, joined the wedding we planned, and are today two of the people I hold most dearly (not to speak of their gorgeous daughter and my pal, their golden retriever, Macallan). With their 2nd anniversary approaching, it’s time to share the wintery gorgeousness of that day at Barnbougle Castle. I will share the full gallery of this wedding on the blog in the next week or two ❤️

ps. If you know of any magic-loving kids who are keen readers, is an incredible author. I’ve read both books in what I hope to be a long series, and could not recommend them enough! Available at all good bookstores 😉

Into the Highlands and Islands with great friends. This wedding landed in my inbox last weekend and I had to wait to open it. It was one of those I wanted to take my time over, savour the scroll. I knew would deliver, she always does. I knew a wedding with her, Toby at and the team would be extraordinary. And I knew with such a talented, gorgeous, delightful couple whose energy would shine through, it couldn’t help but be a wedding gallery of dreams.
I miss this day and these people, it’s why I love my job. And dammit I will forever try to persuade Julia and Bobby to move to Scotland.

It’s a period of reflection. We’re making some changes over here, big and small. A small-ish one is adding blogs about some of our past weddings and the obvious first, was our first! This is another couple I am deeply thankful for, because without Alana and Luke I’m not sure Scarlett & Bell would exist. I still have that text from Alana telling me she and Luke would soon be engaged, so it’s time to set up S&B! We hopped to it, and the rest, as they say, is history. We’ve been back to the St. Andrews area quite a few times since, but this wedding will forever hold a special place in my heart ❤️
