The Art of Indonesian Batik’ by Fiona Kerlogue.
"Tasks designated as dirty or dangerous are generally allocated to the men, though women do perform quite heavy work in the vegetable gardens and rice fields. Nowadays it is often hard for young men to find work, but a few are able to obtain casual work boiling out the wax from batik cloth when the dyeing process is complete."

This stunning Mid-20th Century Iranian saddle bag with it's intricate decorative beading and vibrant tassels is now selling for £80 was £325. It is one of many must go items before we move to the new shop in June!
Originally used by nomadic tribes for storage and transport, it now makes a striking textile piece for either a wall hanging or could be stuffed with plump pillows and used as a window seat cushion.
