Portobello Town Hall is delighted to be hosting the public consultation on the future of Portobello Swim Centre. Please come along and make your voice heard.

Date: 26th May and 1st June
Times: 10:00am to 12:00pm and 6:00pm to 8:00 (both days)

Background: The City of Edinburgh Council and Edinburgh Leisure are inviting local residents, customers, and community groups to take part in a public consultation on proposals to redevelop Portobello Swim Centre, one of Edinburgh’s most distinctive and well‑loved heritage buildings.

The consultation will give the public an opportunity to comment on proposed improvements to the Category A listed facility, including internal reconfiguration to improve layouts, accessibility, and customer experience, while protecting key heritage features such as the pools and Turkish Baths. Feedback from the consultation will help inform the final design and investment decisions for the centre.

Portobello Town Hall is looking for a friendly, organised and people‑loving Event Assistant to join us this Spring! If you enjoy creating a warm, welcoming atmosphere and you don’t mind rolling up your sleeves to help events run smoothly, we’d love to hear from you.

📅 Dates: w/c 20 April – 27 July 2026
⏰ Hours: 8 hours a week, worked flexible during weekends — some busy weeks, some quieter ones

You’ll help keep our events running safely, smoothly and with a big smile — from opening up the building to supporting visitors, hirers and community groups throughout their visit.

💼 About the Role: We’re looking for someone organised, friendly, and proactive to help manage the daily running of our vibrant community venue. You’ll work closely with staff, board members, and our hirers to keep everything running smoothly.

· Coordinating venue bookings and events
· Being the main point of contact for hall users
· Supporting operations and administration
· Helping us grow community use of the space
🌱 We’re Looking for Someone Who:
· Is confident communicating with a range of people
· Has strong organisational and admin skills
· Enjoys working as part of a small team
· Is interested in community-led organisations
