You turn into a close and the city changes.

Stone walls hold the chill. Steps a little damp under your shoes. It’s quiet for a second, then a laugh echoes back at you. You look over your shoulder and there they are—hand in hand, that small squeeze like “I’ve got you.”

Edinburgh does that. Pulls you in, slows your pace without asking, gives you these little pockets where it’s just the two of you and the sound of your footsteps.

I just follow behind and keep it honest.
