Norfolk-grown Peonies now available direct from Norfolk Flower Farm!

The masse of weddings are sorted so now it’s time to indulge you in some local Peony bunches!

I’m still busy with orders hence random opening times but hopefully next week and until the end of Peony season (3 more weeks maybe??) I shall be open a bit more consistently/daily.

There are beautiful bunches of pink and white peonies at the moment and there should be some of the cerise next week.

You can always request a bunch to be prepared for you and arrange a time that suits, or request specific numbers of stems, by messaging.

See you soon 🙌🌸

When you suddenly become obsessed with plants then all your hard work in the garden pays off when you see the results resembling actual art, like a tapestry or paint on canvas.

It’s thrilling! And addictive. Early summer for me is the best time in the garden … all the quintessential cottage garden flowers come into bloom and the colours are bright and wild. Think foxgloves, sweet rocket, honest, cow parsley, red campion.

And mix in with that the cool spheres of allium, heady scent of roses and honeysuckle, and the underlying blanket of pale blue forget me not.

A completely heavenly time of year.

Happy bank holiday weekend Sunday, flower lovers 🌸😊

WOW! Some very nice people have apparently nominated me and I’m in the finals for best florist in Norfolk!

What a lovely accolade to even be nominated, let alone be in the finals 🌸 And the other 9 finalists are all deserving of top spot too. I know we all work our absolute butts off.

But if you think I’m worthy of winning the top award, you can vote for me by clicking here: https://norfolk.muddystilettos.co.uk/awards/vote/ (if you can’t click, use the link in my bio instead)

You’ll need to select ‘Norfolk’ as the region and ‘Florist’ as the category, then select me!

And very importantly once you’ve hit the VOTE button, you will need to verify your vote via the email you receive. Check your junk/spam box if it’s not delivered to your inbox.

Huge thank yous in anticipation!

And happy Sunday ☺️🌸🙌

When you run out of planting space in your cottage garden so you start encroaching on the gravel driveway … a ‘gravel border’ if you will 🤩

Seed-seeders have now proliferated the driveway and it comes to life from May. It’s exquisite and a pollinator’s heaven.

Aquilegia, poppies, ox-eye daisy, feverfew, California poppies, sweet rocket, foxglove, hollyhock, nigella… the list goes on and you can only imagine how dreamy it is.

One of the best deliveries 🙌 Baby dahlia plants ordered from in December.

It’s worth the wait for these beauties. Perfectly healthy and Gall disease free. And since they’re fresh plants, they’ll be incredibly floriferous - even in their first year!

These plants are grown from rooted cuttings and if you scroll to one of the videos, you’ll see the start of a tuber developing. Exciting stuff!

They’ve all been potted on so I can nurture them a bit more till they’re planted out at in a couple of months time.

Hello flower lovers

This is a final call for the last 2 spaces available on The Cutting Garden Masterclass course next Tuesday, with Monday already fully booked.

An intensive one day course including lunch and a comprehensive Masterclass bible to take home for invaluable future reference.

If you’re fed up with cutting flowers only for them to wilt after a day or two, this course will thoroughly teach you:

• Which varieties are perfect for cutting (because not all flowers are!)
• choosing appropriate perennials and annuals
• when to grow and how to grow
• exactly when to cut flowers for the longest vase life
• how to treat flowers once cut and a brief in vase composition

And everthing in between! It doesn’t matter whether you have a dedicated cutting patch, an allotment or garden borders, big or small, you can use this knowledge wherever your cutting garden situation.

The other love of my life aside from flowers! …

My middle dog Flossy turned 8 years old yesterday and I found this video the other day. It’s so gorgeous, I had to share it. Talk about full on ASMR 😍

We bred Flossy and her siblings, and have her mother at home with us. We also now have Flossy’s daughter here with us too!

Pups are generally well weaned by the time they fly the nest at 8 weeks old but these two never stopped with the good stuff till they were forced to 😂 Their eyes totally melt me. And the simulation of helping to pump out the milk continued unnecessarily but instinctively 🥰

There’s a lot of sprocker Spaniel personality under this one roof and I’m deffo broody for more dog babies after watching this 😭🙌❤️

Back where it started! Looking through old photos from where my passion for cottage garden flowers started.

In my cottage garden of course! One that had a blank canvas and I’m so thankful for that. It meant buying some colourful plants (no idea what they were. At the time I DEFINITELY wouldn’t have had any idea what they were!)

Adding those first few colourful plants literally changed my life. It ignited a new passion and I found my vocation.

The first handful of years I spent constantly enlarging borders to fit the weekly haul of new plants. Then adding new borders to fit more.

Then I started making arrangements having snipped mixes of flowers from around the garden.

And from there I flew!

So happy to have found my purpose albeit around the age of 40.

10 years on, I turn 50 this year and whilst running your own business is unbelievably full on and can be pretty stressful at times, I’m so happy to be moving around and muddy at the flower farm every day, and not sitting at a desk, which I did for 30 years!

Happy Sunday folks. The gardens are starting to spring and so is the flower field!

Only a couple of weeks till I supply the first wedding of the year with beautiful, Norfolk-grown blooms.

Only 3 weeks till the first Cutting Garden Masterclass goes live. This is an intensive one-day course teaching all about flowers for cutting… which varieties specifically are good for cutting, colours, shapes, textures, seed sowing, annuals and perennials, and most importantly of all - the correct stage at which to cur your flowers for longest vase life,

And only a week or so till the tulips really start going, so watch this space!!

A beautiful throw back to April last year 🌸 I can’t remember what they were for, but the colours are very Mini Egg!

Utterly scrummy British spring blooms at their best 🤩

As Easter is early this year, it’s looking unlikely I’ll have tulips ready for then. But hopefully soon afterwards 🙌
