During the evening, with the help of a number of skippers and mates, we will practice the following knots -

Bowline

Reef

Sheet Bend

Figure of Eight

Clove Hitch

Round Turn & two half Hitches

All useful when sailing on Jebbs.

You will also have the opportunity to learn how to coil a rope and lasso a cleat.

🌊 Support Sovereign Divers – Help More Women Dive!

Sovereign Divers (ESAC 0513), based here at Sovereign Harbour Yacht Club, have launched a Crowdfunder campaign to break down one of the biggest barriers in our sport – the cost of equipment.

Scuba kit is expensive, and much of it is designed for men’s body shapes. This makes it harder for women (and many new starters) to find safe, comfortable gear without spending thousands of pounds upfront. Our project aims to change that by purchasing better-fitting club equipment and creating a gear-loan scheme – giving women divers in particular the chance to train and progress without the financial strain.

💡 Sport England has pledged £2,460 in match funding, but only if we raise the same amount ourselves by 2nd November 2025. That means every pound you donate will have double the impact.

The thrill of tuna fishing hits British waters once again as the UK Bluefin Tuna Championships 2025 return to Falmouth Harbour this weekend bringing together over 200 anglers and more than 30 boats for a “Catch & Release” fishing competition.
Three of our SHYC Sea Angling Team will be fishing from the Wetwheels South-West (Falmouth) boat for this exhilarating competition. Our team consists of Bob Lawrence, Paul Want and Jon Jacquin.
A bit choppy early this morning but at least the rain has stopped for a bit. We wish them good luck
