We’re getting ready for World Book Day! 📚

Our Sunderland Family Hubs want to make sure every little one can celebrate by dressing up as their favourite storybook character and we need your help!

We’re collecting World Book Day–themed costumes so all children can join the fun. If you have any costumes or outfits your little ones have outgrown, please drop them off at any of our Family Hubs.
📅 World Book Day is on Thursday 5th March 2026
🎁 Please bring your donations in by the end of February so we have plenty of time for families to pick them up.

We’re also planning some extra-special World Book Day events across the city. Stay tuned as details will be coming soon!

Whether your costume is a Gruffalo, a Where’s Wally, a Hungry Caterpillar a Harry Potter, or your families’ own favourite, your donation could help make their day magical.

Looking for a costume for World Book Day - pop along to Thorney Close Family Hub today (Wednesday 25th February) where we’ll have a selection of children’s costumes available for families to pick up — free of charge.

🕧 12.30pm – 4pm
📍 Costumes located in the reception area of Thorney Close Family Hub
👗 First come, first served
📦 Subject to availability

Half term is well underway, and so are our FREE activities for children!

We're fantastic children's activities across a number of our centres absolutely free during half term.

Free activities include:
💦 Under 18's Swimming - choose from a range of family swim sessions, including Rafts & Floats, general swim and more
💥 TAG Active - high intensity fun to burn some serious energy
🧸 Soft Play - little ones can explore, climb and play in our fantastic soft play centres
📅 Activities running until Friday 27 February

No screens. No boredom. Just proper half-term fun, on us. 💙
